  • Forums can be a good source of traffic, Social media sites too (Facebook, Twitter etc..) Erm Video traffic from Youtube.

    Hope that helps?

  • You can combine a few articles to a make a short report, convert it to PDF and submit it to PDF directories. Link to your site or squeeze page in the PDF

Kim Roach posted a nice list of PDF directories in this thread.

    • What what what?

Never heard this before. What and where are PDF Directories?

    • Yes, Kim has some awesome tips! You can even turn this PDF into a book -- just make an ebook cover for it and then submit it to free ebook sites. Make a slideshow and now you've got a video. Read it out loud and make an audio for podcast sites. The list goes on and on and Kim tells you how to do it.
  • After Google SMO is the best option for getting traffic. You can also use Yahoo answers for traffic purpose.
  • I'd say social media probably the best thing for it without using Google. Actually, Facebook is visited more than Google by internet users if I'm not mistaken.

Its also much easier to go viral using social media, especially Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and StumbleUpon.

    • yeah, FB has become a monster
  • It depends a lot on what you are driving traffic towards. Email lists are good for some sites.
  • Oh, what about affiliate programs too - if you offer good commissions you can get a lot of traffic.
  • Without Google? I gather you mean without ppc or using seo strategies to get yourself some free organic traffic?

But I guess I can try to help because there are literally tonnes of ways to drive traffic to your website! As mentioned Social media is a good one at the moment as long as its used properly, article marketing is great, video marketing is massive, Forum marketing, Squidoo, Email advertising....

Those are all ways without using Google
  • Yes, absolutely you can get traffic without google. I had a site banned (or severely penalized) and started using facebook. Here is the WF Thread where I talked about my success. I think really the secret to traffic is building readership with real people, and finding ways for them to interact on your site. In the end you absolutely must have a site people love, and then you will stop worrying about SEO.
  • You may also leverage other people's email lists through soloads. The trick here is to always test small to avoid poor returns or scams.

    • Social media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.), guest posts on blogs, jv's with email list owners, forum signatures.. to name a few.

  • Most people in a buying mode will still use the search engines, and Google having
by far still the largest share, you are not going to be able to avoid using them.

Yes people do use Facebook, Youtube, and other social media sites, but they still
do not compare to search engines where people are going with the prime intention
of getting information to make a decision on buying a product
  • I heard of some people buying cheap ads on eBay so that when someone looks up an item, the ad pops up at the bottom of the page...think they're about 10 bucks a piece.

    • That reminds me that there are some gigs on fiverr of pop ups on high traffic websites. If your info targets the same demographic, that could be useful.
  • Buying advertising directly from webmasters or using a middleman such as an ad network (banner advertising, ppv, etc.), is one way of doing it. Less than 15% of overall internet traffic goes through Google which means that 85% of the traffic that can be bought can be bought without getting Google involved. Of course you have to have a decent budget and know how to track and increase conversions and know how to talk to advertising reps so they don't rip you off.

Google's traffic numbers are going down while these ad networks are growing. Facebook is just one of thousands of places you can buy advertising on. There's also mobile advertising.

  • You can try CPA advertising to get traffic to your offers. Another instant traffic generator are press releases for a new product or idea you are marketing.
  • If you wanna get massive traffic on demand, its about buying that traffic.

Facebook PPC is hot right now and there are literally HUNDREDS of second tier PPC search networks that you can use to get tons of traffic.

And if thats not enough, you can go get some Paid Media campaigns running where you buy banner ads and what not on some of the most prestigious websites in the world.

Combine both of these strategies and you will have more traffic than you know what to do with...

    • That reminds me that even Bing/Yahoo! is a lot cheaper than Google for paid advertising.
  • Yep, use social networking sites...
