Wordpress guru's question for ya

I use to run dating sites but they where all in html.
Is there a script or plugin so you can setup a dating/membership type of wordpress site?

or you think it would be better to stick with html This time around its going to be free to join etc

      There are loads of great (and not so great) membership plugins around to suit every type of user and size of pocket.

      Do a search on here for "membership plugins" and you'll find loads of discussion on them.

      The major players these days are DAP, MemberWing and YourMembers (who all have devs who can be found on warriors) as well as WPMU Dev's membership (great if you need WordPress multisite support) and WishList (which I personally detest, it's overpriced, under featured and under supported, but very very popular for some reason).

    I also use 2member... fantastic plugin.

    When you combine it with TDO Mini forms it becomes very powerful, if you need users to contribute to the site in some way.

    Definitely go with WordPress. Amazing tool to develop almost every niche site you can think of - including a dating site.

    Plus, you can scale it into your needs very easily.

    It depends on exactly what you need out of the site, but if you want anything that isnt relatively straightforward, it might be best to consider having a bespoke site built - you can always have it based on wordpress and just pay someone to add the functionality you need.

      Don't listen to wp enthusiasts who never used it to build a successful dating site.

      For a dating site wordpress is NOT the way to go.

      1. Wordpress's core function is nowhere near what is useful for dating sites.
      2. There are scripts out there that have especially been created for dating sites.

      You don't eat soup with a fork, although technically you could do it. (just takes a bit longer and leaves some soup in the bowl)

      So, why in the world would someone use wordpress instead of using a tool made for it?

      Google these phrases:
      dating site script
      dating site software
      dating community software
      etc.
