Always Amazed at the Random Stuff People Pick Up from Amazon...

Just had to say I've got a handful of Amazon product sites and it never
ceases to amaze me the random stuff people pick up.

I was just reading a thread about the Amazon affiliate program possibly coming to an end so thought I should log in to check a few bits and pieces.

Random stuff... from magazine subscriptions that earned about $0.16 through to thermal flasks, Microsoft Money and Playstation steering wheels.

Even though my sites are all in a craft niche.

I'm just waiting for something rude or controversial to fly through... hopefully with a big ass commission!

Yes, I do get that a lot. It's strange but I don't really mind, we still get the money.

If you notice any trends or recurring sales, it might pay off to make a site promoting those sorts of items.

People do buy the strangest of things and whilst I promote mainly electronic based products over £200, i get sales for things like fishing DVD's and lego sets. I hope they don't shut the programme down especially in the UK, as I'm starting to make a good few quick from the site.

I've definitely had some... ahem... "personal" purchases made through my affiliate account and I don't promote anything like that. It is interesting to see what people are buying and it definitely gives you ideas for new products to promote in the future.

    @ Jay

That's a very cool tip Jay... why hadn't I thought of that!

    @ Mark

Dito mate... I'm down in Brighton and I quite like setting up sites now and then, forgetting about them and logging in to check out my commissions.

I actually get some great niche ideas from the things people buy from my Amazon sites!

The strangest thing though was that once someone bought 13 rubber chicken purses - I didnt even realize there was such a thing as a rubber chicken purse and can't imagine why anyone would want 1 never mind 13 of them!

Just be glad Jill bought them all through your affiliate link.
