How To Market To My List

I have a very targeted list gathered over the past year for a specific industry through adwords. The list is large, 50,000+ emails. Anyways I am wondering what would be the best route to go with this. There are some clickbank ebooks that directly address the issue these people were trying to solve when they signed up on the squeeze page.

One of the problems I will face is that the list right now is actually an excel spreadsheet. Keep in mind that these emails are all part of a targeted campaign. Also, the industry (mortgages and loans) will almost certainly be block by any spam filter which is good, because we do not want to send spam, we would like to market the list.

Any ideas on this?

    1. You are going to need to join some type of autoresponder system, ideally, to send out all the emails for you. Most of the better autoresponder systems will allow you to upload an excel spreadsheet full of contacts BUT those contacts will need to reconfirm before you can send them any emails. The autoresponders need to protect their reputation and have some type of record that the subscribers have given permission to receive emails from you.

    2. You can't just build a list and then start sending emails to them a year later - it doesn't work like that. I am guessing most of these people will have either forgotten they even joined your list, they have already found a solution to that problem, OR they no longer care about that problem. I am guessing you will get a LOT of unsubscribes on your first email.

Good email marketing involves building a relationship with your list from day one. This isn't something you can just pick up a year later. You can, but it won't work anywhere near as well as it could have.

I couldn't agree more...having a successful list means building a relationship with the customer from day one so you can later market to them related products...You can try to market to your current list but many of them are not going to be interested anymore...The good thing is that your list is so big that maybe you can market to a good handful of them...Best of Luck.

Is your list UK based or US?

Even though your list is old, you definitely can still promote to them. You really dont have anything to lose.

Test out a few offers in your niche that they signed up for, and also a few other offers to a small portion of the list to see if it does well.

Once you find out what works put together an autoresponder sequence for the list...

This is a US list. I bought a new domain today forwarded the domain to the clickbank product that matches the original service they were looking for and installed POMMO and I uploaded a thousand emails from the list. I sent out a test email with a Halloween themed update and offered assistance to them if they have not already found a solution.

Clickbank reports 35 hops, no sales. ::shrugs:: It has only been a few hours.

I am a web developer for a marketing company that only sells sales leads. The emails are stored but never used (yes a marketing company that does not capitalize on its lists lol) and basically thrown away after the sale. I am trying to find a new way to monetize the list after an appropriate amount of time has passed (give our customer time to complete their business with the lead).

The list also goes beyond 50,000 records. I have 50,000 on each domain and we have at least 5 main domains. I have permission also, to test and play with this FYI.

Wow... this sounds sort of strange. But I would first of all find a way to mail them. Use something like mailchimp or whatever. I don't think managing your own SMTPs is on your list of skills atm. If it is... set your own SMTPs up. I'd get into all the technical details of doing that. But that's a bit too much to explain

But 35 hops in a few hours is really not that much. I get that in 1 hour on a list that's only 500 subscribers. So considering that, mailchimp may not be the best way to go.

You really just need to try a few things. Maybe try upload them to something like getresponse and get them to reconfirm before mailing. It MAY help. But other then that, it's tough.

If you do find a solution for mailing, you need to get them on another list as quickly as possible. Al though I am not 100% sure if that will be worth it in your case. I'd still give it a shot.

In your situation I would recommend using mailchimp or sendgrid.

If you are promoting to an old list, I wouldn't expect high conversion rates from one email. Your best bet is to send them multiple emails on a daily basis promoting one specific offer. Don't expect that a one-time shot will cut it.

You'll need to rebuild the relationship by providing consistent quality content to relevant offers. If you know about CPA marketing (cost-per-action), you may be able to arbitrage your list with some lead gen offers as well (not just clickbank).
