hi,

I just discovered two very popular sites and I have accessed them frequently past sometime, and now this happens to them, dunno, either their hosting expired or someone defaced them (this i think is not defacing), or they suffered a DDoS, please help me understand whats this.

SITE#1: SnapDeal.com It is very popular deal site, dunno about other countries or its existence there, but here in India, its a hit.

Weird thing: its showing adsense and showing its own Ads

SITE#2: Torrentz.eu A very popular torrent search engine, I visit this almost 10 times a day!

Weird thing: Its showing symptoms similar to SnapDeal

  • Seems to work a-ok for me...

However, it's possible it is having a DNS redirect for you if you are in another country... or yes, as above guy said, you might need to clean your system. Try it on a different computer and see if you get the same result...

Had it been a virus... then it would have infected my entire system...but other websites are opening well... else it would blocked out a particular set of urls... lets say all under the google umbrella... but this aint happening... both of them are not at all related

Yeah even I guessed the same... a CDN breakdown for them... maybe the geographical server near to me crashed.

      God Knows!
PS: the issue becomes interesting because the page being shown has bunch of ads, and with that much traffic... they secure $1000+

It's not them, it's you. You have some sort of browser hijack virus. Do some Googling. There are a lot of good tech forums that will walk you through the steps to identify and cure the problem. Most will require you to paste a HijackThis report, so find that software and be ready to run a system check.

Yeah ... they load fine for me. You have some sort of malware/browser hijack on your computer. Download Malwarebytes and check your computer. Downloading free stuff from torrent sites can often be the source of viruses and malware.

Tried to view the sites using ubuntu run from a disc? (CD on boot)

If you can access them no problem you do have something hiding on your machine...
