What's the most fruitful, TARGETED traffic generation technique you've used?

This could be interesting.

We're always been told about fad-style ways of bringing traffic to our sites, but very few result in targeted traffic.

What is the most fruitful technique you have used/put in place to bring you targeted, profitable traffic?

I'll get the ball rolling here...

Mine was setting up well thought out PPC ads. Resulted in tens of thousands of dollars of business for a comparitively small spend.

    Just watch the most rich and powerful CEO's and politicians. Every time you see them, what are they doing? When I was very young, I thought they got paid just to smile and shake peoples' hands, play golf, go to 5 star restaurants, and tell stupid jokes.

    That is the most targeted and profitable form of "traffic".

    Most fruitful and most targeted?

    Well for me that has to be a soload I purchased from (well hush on that).

    Actually soloads combined with targeted forum marketing have been my best converting traffic. Second to that would be affiliate traffic.

    PPC has simply proved a costly affair for me, so I've not really delved much into it.

    For me it's SEO. It might not sound that interesting, but it works amazingly well for me. Targeted traffic arrives at my site already wanting to buy what I'm offering. It doesn't get any better than that.

        On topic forums where i developed my place within the community long before i started posting links - after several years when i added my blog to my signatures of several forums i had thousands of posts under belt so the forums were riddled with my links.. i also had a high post count so i was trusted whenever i posted links to my own posts.

        I'd say a good 50 - 70% of my traffic and list came or comes from this.

    PPC Advertising works best on demand but ongoing would be the social networking traffic i.e- Twitter/ Facebook.

    But that could be because we are in that field, got to love PPC though for pure reach!
