Is anyone using iContact for mailing lists?

I'm looking at moving my email subscription to a service instead of my server.

I've heard a lot about aweber and getresponse, but I've seen a couple big names using iContact.

Is anyone here using that or has used it? If you're using it, what do you like and dislike about it?

If you used to use it but switched, why and who did you switch to?

iContact is about $10 cheaper, but that $10 is not a deciding factor for me. I will pay the extra $10 if the service is better.

    Michael,

I used to use it and switched to aweber but often recommend icontact to my clients. I switched because...

    a) aweber is supposed to be tops for deliverability b/c they are so neurotic about double opt-in
    b) at the time, it was cheaper to go with aweber if you moved beyond a certain number of subscriber (can't remember what number though)
    c) they are way better for just straight autoresponders (unless it's changed, icontact's functionality was limited in this regard, but if you use a shopping cart you may have autoresponders there as well)
    d) they can parse emails from 1shoppingcart to add those folks to your list

    and since I joined...

    e) they have the blog subscribe feature, which allows more customization than Feedburner
    f) they have kickass analytics for your emails
    g) and they've added basic popover, under, hover etc. opt-in box features for your website

So why do I still recommend iContact? Some of my clients are not looking for these advanced features--they're just happy to get an email newsletter going for a good price plus is iContact is easier to use. Plus, they're a great company, I've met a few people that work there through Twitter (but get nothing for my referrals ). Aweber takes a little getting used to.

    I hope that helps.

I've only used Icontact for my business and am quite happy with it. They have good tracking features for you to use and it's easy to see open rates and things like that. I see no reason to switch to anyone else.

I heard Aweber requires double opt in so that alone would keep me from using them.

Same here - I use iContact and am very happy with the service. Their community feature provides some good SEO activities as well and helps getting our website indexed.
