Will people buy this?

If I made a website around a specific niche (say gardening for example)...with a nice design, and 500 original articles, all around this niche.... but it wasn't making any income, could I still sell it?

Would it sell even if it wasn't making any money?

How much can you sell a site like this for?

  • Yes im sure someone would buy it just for the articles if their unique. Depending on the price of course

Yes I'm sure it would sell just fine, might attract a newbie or someone who can generate hits etc but doesn't like building so much. No idea on price though.

There are website auction/sales sites around, I'd check them out see what other similar sites sell for. Don't have any details, site names though but I'm sure someone will respond with one or two.

    hope that helps

People will buy it if they see value. It might be in terms of sales or in terms of good content. So yes, if your content is really rich and unique, there would be some people interested in it.

Because the website is not generating income, it would have no value to anyone.
You can probably position the design and 500 articles as it's USP.

You never know, someone somewhere might be looking for this exact thing.

    Hello TheSalesTechnician,

I was researching on the Internet and I stumbled upon this article that reads 'How To Sell A Website – How Much Is Your Website Worth?'

I think this will help you in pricing/selling your website.

I saw you asking about your articles in another thread. Are they quality? Were they written by someone who really knows about horticulture? Or were they outsourced?

Have you tried to syndicate them through article marketing to drive traffic if they are quality?

I'm no expert in the field, but I am pretty good at regurgitating what I have read on forums and if I had as many articles as you do on stagnant sites, I would try to drive traffic through article marketing and email newsletters.

If they are truly quality articles, the hard work is done. Now you just need to send them out to be syndicated and have a little patience.

If they were outsourced to non-gardening, non-compelling writers, you might just have a site that is a dime a dozen and not worth anything and lacks the potential to be worth anything.

I would suggest you first try and get the site to generate some income with Adsense or an affiliate offer .
A site with no income no matter its content will not generate many buyers or bids. People will always wonder if the site is so great why no income .

You may be able to sell without showing any income but your price is unlikely to be good.

Yes, you can sell it but you will make mcuh more money if you spent some time to make it profitable.

When people buy something there's got to be a reason. So that is either that it will it help them make money. Or... someone may want your articles as content for their website. People are always looking for content.

The problem with trying to sell content is that people can get free content from websites like ezinearticles.com. So is would all depend on if your articles were unique and more valuable.

Regarding articles, what I always seem to see selling well is PLR articles. Where you give people full rights to them so they can do whatever they want with them.

To go with the idea above about trying to start making money with your website. It depends what you're trying to make money with on your website. If it's just Google adwords that you're going to have a hard time.

What I would suggest is turning these articles in several e-books and offering those for sale. Then put some of them in a report and give away to create interest in what you're selling. If they see that the free content is good information then that will make them want more. i.e. Your e-book/s.

You could give them titles like this...

"The All New Ultimate Gardening Methods"

    Hope this helps?

    Kind regards,

Lot of people will be interested to buy such readymade sites. A site with 500 articles and nice design is not so easy to get regardless what the niche is. Just the quality of the contents must be good. You will be able to sell them in very good price.

It would sell. Probably for around a few hundred dollars.

My cousin asked me if i would create a professional 5-page website for him, and i told him i would do it for $500. He offered $250, but i told him i'm not willing to work for that amount of money.

But to answer your question, yes, it would sell.
