Here's my secret free traffic strategy that can also work for you

Hi everyone

There are lots of ways to get free traffic to your sites. Here is what I do everyday and get really good traffic daily. This is building up backlinks and improving my seo too and this is not some dead new method but the way you do it could make a difference.

1 - I go to Drop My Link - Find sites to create backlinks on and and make a list of blogs based on my Keyword
2 - Leave comment on 5 to 10 blogs a day

NB: you must be productive in your comments. Avoid things like "great post", "thanks for sharing", etc. Be sure to read the articles and leave reasonable comments.

This is working for me and I can recommend you try it

CommentLuv blogs seem to produce the best results for my strategy

I'm sure there are a lot of WSO sellers waiting to gobble your money up to teach you how to "get extra easy backlinks" to your sites. However, seriously speaking there's so many threads on this topic in this forum about free traffic strategies, just do a search for it.
Blog commenting for example is a realistic and good way to get targeted traffic to your site. In a similar vain people here comment with sig links at the bottom of their posts and get targeted traffic. As Alex Jeffries says give value in your post and let everything else naturally take care of itself!

I started off commenting on commentLuv enabled blogs and the results soon came up just after a few weeks. I must underline the fact that you must make useful comments

I've used this for all my site..you need to be consistent and post a comment for 5-10 blogs a day as mention above

If your keyword competition is not too difficult...yes! you can see the result after a few weeks

So, be consistent and watch out your keyword

So a few weeks it is then. I only started a week ago so guess I was just getting impatient . I do only search related products which means I am already qualified to submit responses better than 'great post' etc.

There are dozens of free traffic methods you can use if you're willing to put up the work. You could create a free valuable report which would link back to your website, your products and affiliate products and give it away for free and create a list of subscribers. You can offer your free report in various places such as: forums, facebook groups, free ebook listing sites, ad swaps, and so on.

Below is the method i found really helpful, it's almost 100% free if you can do it manually.

    Article Marketing
Write 3 articles that are related to the topic of your website. Include a brief bio and link to your website at the end of the article. Submit each of these articles to article directories, and also to webmasters and ezine owners that rank well for your keywords.

    Participate In Forums
Do a search on Google for keyword+forum. If you have a pet related site, for example, search “pet forum” (without quotes). Find the top 3 forums in your niche and join each of them. DO NOT SPAM, but do set up a profile (and signature, if allowed) and post an introduction. Get involved in each of these 3 forums by posting at least one thread or response each day. This will help you gain exposure in your target market, and people will naturally be interested in your related website.

    Yahoo! Answers
Go to http://answers.yahoo.com and find questions related to your niche or website. If you can provide a legitimate answer to their question, you can include your link as the resource or reference URL. Again, without spamming, if you can contribute to the community you will interest them in your related website.

    Viral Marketing
Write a Report that would be of great interest to your target market, and sell it cheap. Include your bio and information about your site within the report (briefly in the Introduction, and fully in the About The Author section at the end).

    Get Socializing
Set up profiles at popular social networking sites like MySpace, Facebook, Ryze.com etc. Network with people in your niche and get established on these sites with a customized profile.

    Blogging It
Blogging can be considered another form of Social Networking, and enough so to be considered a stand-alone marketing technique. You want to set up a blog that is directly related to your website’s topic, and post content to it frequently (3-5x/week minimum). If you have a pet store website, for example, you can create a blog on Pet Tips (dog grooming, dog training, etc).

    Shoot a Press Releases
You can write and submit a press release free of charge. While some websites charge to publish your press release (and this may be worth the investment!), many also offer a free submission option. You want your press release to be newsworthy, so you choose your angle carefully. Do a search on Google for press release tips.

    SEO
Learn all that you can about SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and take the necessary steps to optimize each of your web pages. It is not complicated or impossible, but there is a lot of mis-information out there about search engines. I can help you with this personally if you like (free) at my discussion forum – look for the SEO section.

    Build Links!
Submit your new site to appropriate directories, and get it listed on niche resource pages. Link farms and exchanges on “link pages” are a waste of your time, but do seek out quality linking opportunities. You want a variety of links pointing to your site, not only to your main page but also to internal pages of your site as well.

    Funnel Traffic From Other Sites
This strategy may require a little creativity, but you want to consider ways that you can funnel traffic from popular websites such as: craigslist, ebay, youtube, wikipedia, etc. These are very popular websites that are established and bursting at the seems with live visitors. Think of ways that you can add something of value, and (without spamming!) lure these visitors to your website.

    Cheers!

I see this one suggested a lot and I think it's a great idea in principle. The problem I'm having so far though, is a lack of forums that will allow me to post a link of any kind to an outside site. 9 of every 10 forums I find on my niche, that are active enough to bother with posting in, specifically prohibit link posting anywhere on their site. Not in your profile, not in your signature, and definately not in the body of your message. I thought this could just be specific to my niche so I tried to promote a few more products. Same result again, no links of any kind anywhere on the site. Without spamming I literally see no way to post in 99% of forums. Maybe someone has some tips for me in regards to this?

I've been trying this method on and off for the last week and unfortunately it doesn't work very well. I've had to sign up for 3 different accounts because I kept getting banned from yahoo answers. I didn't post one single link without a relevant response to the question that was asked. I didn't post my link in every single answer I gave. I answered questions on other subjects besides the one I was trying to sell to mix it up. However, without fail I was banned and had to create a new account every couple of days. I had even been chosen for best answer 10 or 12 times. Every answer across all 3 accounts was deleted. I did make my first ever sale, which was over $100 so it was worth it. I just can't see this as a long term traffic generator though. Any thoughts? Mabye some trick I'm not aware of. I would really appreciate it!

I agree with you, majority of forums especially in non - business niche do not allow sig but if you are able to find one or two that receive good amount of traffic you can benefit from it.

Yahoo Answer is not that friendly. Have you read their TOS, you also don't have to always use your url in every answer you contribute. Atleast, 40% and the question has to really warrant adding link.

Personally, i don't focus on forum traffic for any niche other than BUSINESS and also don't participate much in YA. Rather i do more of offline ads, press release and the other methods mentioned.

Good tips! But yes, if you do it all yourself, it's very time consuming. I think it makes sense to outsource some of these, so that your time is better spent on something else that can't be outsourced or for which your skills would be better suited. Some of these methods are about volume and numbers (assuming good enough quality) e.g. article marketing, blog posts, forums, PRs, socializing... so hire people to boost the volumes!

Don't forget to test anything you plan on doing extensively...

For example, I have about 7-8 sites that I haven't been promoting in a months time.

I plan on testing 3 sites using 3 different strategies..Then social bookmark and send RSS feeds to all 3 equally.

In about a week, I'll look at the results...If one technique improves keyword ranking 20% and another 5%, Ill note this and in the future Ill know where my time is best spent. Then rinse and repeat...Its a slow process, but effective for the best diy long term results.

Don't rely on a forum for your answers..Theres too much theory and not enough factual advice going around. People mean well, but you have to take it w/ a grain of salt, and test it yourself before taking it as the holy grail.

Yes, for blog commenting, most comments are automatic and most good blog owners will delete them, so to get your comments accepted, asy something which is obviously SPECIFIC about that blog, ie. use words which tell the blog owner for SURE that you have actually read that post, and that you are human (ie. don't just say "great blog" and copy the blog name or subject, as the auto robots can do that too

I'd suggest a wider range of different types of backlinks, too, as lots of backlinks of just one or two types is a rather obvious "signature" to Google, and they are likely to decrease your traffic due to doing that. To get the best results form backlinking, you need to make the backlinks as natural as possible, and that means a very wide range of different types of backlinks, and a variety of link wordings, etc.

You are totally right there Cheryl. Most people have not got the kind of mindset to sit there day after day to complete these tasks in the kind of volume they require and get fed up and then say it doesn't work. Def outsource this kind of thing.

Good strategy , but what about if i comment on 100 blogs per day ? is this spam ? if yes , why 10 comments are not spam and 100 are?
    I`m not joking really.
