Article marketing keywords

To you who do significant article marketing do you ever write topics related to keywords so you are SEO'g your site with the article or are how are you focusing your writing? Thanks.

After reading posts and posts about article marketing it is clearly for me. I'm putting all my article publishing leads in a spreadsheet and tracking all my contacts.

Thank you Alexa, myob, funny Joe, John M and I'm leaving out a few more superstars. Peter

When I write articles on my blog, I do my research and the optimize them for as many keywords as possible. When I find a bunch of similar keywords, I use the one that looks the most natural and gets a lot of hits and use variations of the other keywords throughout my article, so I get traffic from multiple keyword phrases. You have to make sure not to keyword stuff, though, and to add value. Does this make sense?

My two cents here... don't overload your articles with keywords and especially if they don't sound natural. An introduction with the keyword and an introduction using it works. Then mention the keyword in the article naturally and search engines will pick it more. Google and the rest know the difference between articles which have 20% keyword density vs ones that are finely written and mention it during the natural flow of the article.

    Hope that helps.

Try not to stuff to many keywords this time. It's a different ball of game these days. Google Penguin can be a pain and hurt your SERP of that particular keywords if they know you are spamming that targetted keyword.

I keep my keyword density low... around 2% - 3%. Write for humans because if you SEO an article with a particular keyword too much... what value will it be for the person who reads your article?

Yes thanks for the responses. What I'm thinking about is beginning the article by the one keyword, not stuffing it, but build the article around the keyword or phrase. This way you're getting a little SEO ride out of it.

I really don't do a lot of what people here would consider "keyword research".

Most of my topics come from either news in the niche or questions people have asked. This way, I get the keywords people are interested in without going cross-eyed using the Google Keyword tool or other software.

I might take a quick peek when formulating the title, if the topic doesn't clearly suggest one major keyword phrase, but that's it.

I used to do more but, after analyzing my stats, I found I was getting most of my search traffic for queries I'd have never thought of in a million years of trying. Such is life out on the long tail.

When I'm writing for syndication, I'm not really worried about the search engines anyway. I already have two human audiences to impress - the publishers I want to use my articles, and their readers.

Trying to hit some magical keyword density can make your writing awkward and hard to read. Use the keyword (and variations) where it is natural to do so.

For some articles, this may only be once or twice, particularly with short articles.

For others, it might be a dozen times, especially if you happen to use lists of bullet points. For example, if your keyword was 'lures':
      • surface lures
      • topwater lures (same thing)
      • swimming lures
      • plastic lures
      • metal lures
      • bottom fishing lures
      • jigging lures
      • and so on...

In my experience i choose a topic related to my site, while promoting my site through article marketing, it is most likely a long tail keyword, what topic i choose to cover, and i never worried about the density, as it should come all in the natural way, only one thing should be care of that that article must be related to your niche to get maximum seo effect.
