I was getting my review site up and running and planned to promote it using article marketing.. then I came across the thread "Article marketing sucks".. Now I am more confused than ever on what to do, I had high hopes for this site to starting making me some money. However, the various commends in the thread have just made me feel like im back to square one. I want to make a career out of this, if AM is just another "job" then I feel I should not pursue it.The site is already set up and I have already reviewed two products. If it means anything I have only been doing IM since January of this year. Site is in my sig (not intended to promote, just want advice).

If you were to give up on different IM methods because someone said something negative about it, well, you would be giving up on everything because there have been negative comments about EVERY aspect of IM.

Article marketing may not have worked for that person but the question it, will it work for you? There is only one way to find out.

Forget what other people say and find out for yourself!

Don't get discouraged. Some people have better "luck" than others when it comes to any marketing technique.

You already have a plan and a site so continue with your plan. Then you will see what is working for you and move on to increase your efforts or change, as in tweak, your plan but whatever you do don't give up.

You want to know what the real secret is?

Persistence. The people who are successful got that way by continuing to trudge along and keep putting one foot in front of the other until one day they look up and see that many of the others fell by the wayside.

    OUTLAST your competitors.

I agree with the other responders - YOU are the only one who can make your decision.

Ultimately it all comes down to what your goals are for your online business.

I think it's fair to say that 99% of people using article marketing do not make a full-time living from it and probably also do other marketing activities too.

So if you're looking to buy a million dollar house anytime soon, you probably need a more robust model.

However, if you're not making anything and you're looking for a quick and easy way to get started that you can build on and supplement - Article marketing might be perfect.

Also, if you don't like writing - it's probably not the best thing to have as your main focus.

If you love writing - you're going to enjoy the time spent writing the articles, so there's a benefit right away.

As long as your focus is on writing articles that will achieve the desired result (buyers) and you can do it effectively, there's no reason not to go for it.

Many people just regurgitate existing content and wonder why it doesn't make any difference to their results, so there are a lot of people doing article marketing very ineffectively - so you can't really make your decision based on what others are doing.

Just make your decision based on your own understanding of whether it will realistically get you the results you want.

There were a couple of threads on here yesterday about doubt and how to deal with it.

There are no cast-iron guarantees when you're in business - otherwise everyone would be a millionaire.

Assuming you're not doing it with your finger in the air and you've actually worked out a business plan to get you where you want to be, I say carry on with it. Nothing's changed just because you read a few posts on here.

    Cheers,

10 Ways Writing Articles Can Improve Your Business

    1. Submit them to e-zines and web sites for publishing.
Include your resource box at the end of the article to get
    free advertising.

    2. Combine your articles into a free e-book. You can place
your business ad in the e-book. Give it away to visitors and
allow them to do the same to multiply your advertising.

    3. Create an article directory on your web site. People will
visit your web site to get the free information.

    4. Submit your articles to print publications that pay for
submissions. You can make extra income getting paid as
    a freelance writer.

    5. Combine a few of your articles together into a free report.
Give away the free report as a bonus for buying your main
    product or service.

    6. Publish a book with all your articles. Make extra money
selling the book from your web site.

    7. Give people an instant article directory. Tell visitors they
can instantly add a free article directory to their web site
by linking to yours. All those links can add up to a large
amount of traffic to your web site.

    8. Post your articles in related online communities. This can
give you free advertising in newsgroups, forums and e-mail
    discussion lists.

    9. Allow people to include your articles in their free e-books.
Your article could end up being in 20 to 30 e-books in no
time. You won't even have to promote the e-books.

    10. Let people access your articles by autorepsonder.
Include your full page e-mail ad with the article.

    Hope this helps.

I've read that thread your talking about and while the OP does make some valid points, the fact remains that PPC can drain your wallet FAST! I've just started messing with PPC and lets just say it's been interesting.

If you don't know what your doing, be prepared to lose money for a while until you figure it out. Even then, you have to find out why it's not converting if it doesnt. Is it your landing page, your niche or any one of other things.

Article marketing is very profitable! There are more threads here about how profitable it is than one or two that say it isn't. Like anything, there is a learning cure to it, but once you've got it down it's free money!

The best thing about article marketing is you can get it to the point of it being passive and it's FREE!
