IM Confidence boosters

One of the best ways to boost confidence that I've found is to see money coming in. Something about getting a payment is a real motivator

A fairly quick way of doing that is to find one or two things that you can sell on eBay. It's probably not something you want to do long-term but it can be a good short-term project to get some money flowing into Paypal.

If you listen to some of Pat Flynn's early podcasts he discusses some of the things he started with on his IM journey. I remember that article writing/submission was one, even though it amounted to just a few dollars/pounds. He gave many more suggestions to start with so go over to his blog and listen to the early podcasts.

Without a plan you will be spinning your wheels. First choose a business model. Choose a niche/ sub niche. Create a plan of action for your traffic generation and conversion.

So what do you suggest?

Site flipping and affiliate marketing seem interesting.

Long run, I'd like to build something that I'm proud to talk about. Short run, some cash would be nice to show me it is possible.

Just my opinion. But, aren't you kind of going in two separate directions? On one hand you want a quick result - on the other hand you want to build something to be proud of. One is taking away from the other.

Maybe you do need to have a quick result to convince yourself that you can do this. Just remember, making money online is a hell of a lot more difficult than many will have you believe.

Success is NOT determined by the strategy (although it's essential) but by the mindset and belief of the person following it. I can tell you have little belief in your abilities to make this happen. No one needs to convince you that it works, this industry wouldn't exist if it hadn't been proven to do so.

My guess is that you'll find exactly what you're looking for. You'll follow a strategy that promises quick cash, you'll get burnt, and jump to the next one. This is very common in this game - and so is spotting the people who are destined to follow that path.

I hope you don't find that quick cash strategy and you think long and hard about what you really want, long term. You can waste a lot of time on your way to your first $100, but the big fat question is whether you can keep repeating that result every day after. Without a proper plan in place, that statistically may never happen.

Listen, I'm obviously waffling on a bit here. You may stumble into something great and make a killing.

Probably list building has been the easiest money I've ever made.

1. Create a squeeze page with a free offer on it
2. Create a one-time-offer (OTO) which is the page the user will see immediately after subscribing. On this page you will promote a product that compliments the free offer. Price it low around $7-9.
3. Drive traffic to your squeeze using adswaps and solo ads.

Assuming you have a decent converting page, and an OTO that looks good, you can earn an easy $100 off of this.

I would say that the part where you actually do something that brings you a result in the form of a monetary gain might boost your confidence. What he handed you for free is a very simple project that should make you feel like you can accomplish something. He answered your question directly with exactly what you asked for.

@Greenyeti - Look at sports people. Accomplishment and success breeds confidence, that much is a given. Therefore do something that will make you feel more accomplished. This has to be a personal goal that you set for yourself. Once you have decided upon it you need to focus on it until it is completed without getting distracted. Distraction kills success and reduces confidence. Too much analysis results in paralysis (by analysis).
