Taking Google AdWords Certification, can WF rec other courses/sites?

Hello Warriors,

I apologize if I have put this question in the wrong place, I was thinking about Self Improvement, but the topic fits Internet Marketing.

I am now studying for the Google AdWords Certification. I am a web writer/blogger and I've done some social media projects too. I'd like to improve my skills.

I love the forum here, and was wondering if Warriors can recommend courses or sites, that aren't too expensive, or maybe even ones that are free, that could improve my skill level? I would like to be more than "just" a web writer by the end of this year. I am working on the content to build my first site, would like to have it live by the end of April.

I thank you for your time and welcome your thoughts and suggestions.

Abigail

      Hi fluffy,

Not yet, I thought I would study for the certification and learn about it. Google has a great self-study course to prepare for the exam, it explains everything very well.

      • There's nothing like jumping in and actually doing it. I would even argue that's the only way to learn. Google is not going to tell you the downsides of their own product.

It's amazing how much you learn when your own sales are at stake.

          Hi fluffy,

Thank you for the advice, I really appreciate it. My site's content should be completed by about the end of April, so I can go live then. I thought I'd be done with the Google certification at about that time too, so good timing. But I can see your point, that a company isn't going to tell you the downsides of their product.

I appreciate your opinion and thoughts very much.

I see you have a BestofFiverr.com site. I love Fiverr.com, it is a great site. I hired my business card designer there. Do you have other sites?

One of the requirements to pass this exam to run a camping of 1k or more on Google Adwords.

I always tell folks that I spent over $500,000 of my own money on AdWords before I truly learned how to use it.

Nothing beats sinking your teeth into practical application. I'm sure you'll do just great. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions!

          Jim.

  • Abigail,

The Adwords videos from Google should give you the basic foundation to pass the certification exams. Fluffy does have a point that just diving into a campaign and seeing what works and what doesn’t is one of the best ways to learn.

Yeah, I would recommend doing something with a charity site if you don't have any other reason - give you a feel good factor too, as well as being able to test, and it should be pretty cheap to do.

I'm surprised Google even has an Adwords Certification anymore. Once upon a time (circa 2006) there was actually a learning curve to Adwords. Now a days it's very automated. I remember being put in charge of a $85,000/mo Adwords account with absolutely no experience. Talk about hell week.

I received my cert in 2008 (I think)... still have my plaque along side my "1,000,000" generated leads using Google Adwords Plaque"... has anyone else received one of those; along with those cool Google mini refrigerators? lol... fun times.
