Any advantage to using WP.orgee?

I found the site that explains the differences between the two, but is there any advantage to using the .org site as oppossed to .com from an affiliate standpoint?

I'm having trouble getting my site to look decent with Dreamweaver and was looking into the blogging platform as an option. I already have a host and can download WP from the CPanel (not sure if it's the org or com version tho).

Does it matter? Thanks.

ps - Sorry if this has been asked before, but even with the advanced search the words "Wordpress" come up so frquently that I couldn't find an explanation.

.COM is a hosted platform of WordPress where .ORG distributes the core software and deals with modifying it.
If you are planning to use your own theme, you need to download the software (aka WordPress) and install it in your own server.

    Yes - enormously.

Wordpress.com's terms of service preclude any form of monetization, marketing, traffic generation to other sites, and so on. It's for "hobby/social bloggers" only. Anything commercial will be removed as soon as it's noticed by a staff member. The fact that you're asking about it in a marketing forum suggests pretty strongly that it isn't going to be helpful to you.

Thanks for the answers. Totally misunderstood the support page I read at the .org site. If I go with a blogging platform, it'll be .com. Thanks for saving me from myself (again).

(I wasn't sure if posting the .org was violating forum policy)
