WoW, never saw that in their T&C's - bet you worked hard for that as well!

I did hear something similar a while back but did not take much notice

So if average commission is 5% and they cap at £7 then we should promote items no higher than £140. (isn't maths great!)

    Thanks for the heads up!

The Amazon cap has (I think) been around since 2009.

What you take from it is this, if you have found a way of getting a sale for an item for £3000, where you would imagine the competition would be much higher.

Getting a huge bunch of sales of items for £140 each should be a breeze.

Just got back from a #BrightonSEO. I was given room 404 in the hotel I stayed at. Couldn’t find it anywhere!

I think that only applies to the UK Amazon Associates program. Use the USA one and you'll find that the commission starts at 4%. Sell something like 120 products and you'll reach 7%. Laptops are capped at $25, all other electronic items at 4%.

In my experience, the USA site converts far, far better. Income from UK and Canada was literally 100-200x greater for me last month. I wouldn't even bother with the UK program, to be honest. Use http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/...ink-localizer/ and everything is done for you automatically. No need to change your links or anything like that. Just sign up to Amazon's program in different countries.

As an insight, one of my sites makes me £1/month on Amazon UK, and over $1,000/month on US...

I'm from the UK, and I hate to say it but, we just don't use Amazon as much here, and our population is what.. 100x lower?

That would put the population of the US at about 6 Billion then!

Yes, it's a real annoyance, which is why my current Amazon affiliate sites only promote products around the £150 mark. I spent ages creating my first Amazon affiliate with high ticket items, only to be disappointed.

If you can sell items for that much...maybe you are doing something right? And it is Amazon that is the wrong choice for you?

There are lots of other places you can get commissions for products...much higher than 5% and much higher than $7 per item.

Amazon, and others with similar offer payouts, either do not want real CPA traffic or just don't get it. That payout is to just get free backlinking from every SEO reliant site as an alternative for made for adsense.

So don't feel bad, find a real CPA offer if you are pushing $3k item sales, someone will be glad to have you as an affiliate publisher. Think of big ticket items like insurance, hot tubs, real estate... those should all be big payouts.

Amazon US converts pretty high. I'm not that familiar with UK traffic but I do use link localizer and have accounts for different countries as well.

Here's the thing, stick with Amazon.com and you'll do a lot better.

I like Amazon cause their authority and trustworthiness makes selling a lot easier. With Amazon I don't have to worry about the conversion rate. All I have got to do is to send the traffic to Amazon and they takes care of the rest. I do even get commissions for products I have never promoted. That's the beauty of Amazon Associates Program.

For me, Amazon is still the winner and they'll always pay. (Though I would love to get a bit higher commissions like 10%).

I'm getting around 7% commission from Amazon but only after reaching a certain number of sales. I can easily meet the target every month with a very little effort.

    I'll vote for Amazon.com.
