Checkouts That Take PayPal?

by Greedy
18 replies
I'm looking for a checkout system that can take Pay Pal my behalf. So through their account.

Things I'm looking for:

- Recurring Billing

- Trail Memberships

- Multiple-Tier Affiliate Tracking

Right now, the best thing I've seen ClickBank. But not a huge fan of their refund policy or % fees.

Any good alternatives? Amazon Payments?

Besides Clickbank, I use them on some of our live products, and as a secondary backup just incase... All your required needs are covered there.

Let me know what you think.

Except they do NOT accept Paypal payment on your behalf: you must use your own PP account.

Thank you. This my main concern.

Otherwise I would use a merchant account.

Do you know about 2Checkout and Plimus?

Check out DAP: Digital Access Pass. It's very robust and can do everything you are mentioning and more.
Can it accept Pay Pal on my behalf?

Yes, DAP can accept Paypal on your behalf.

It also works with 2Checkout, ClickBank and a whole bunch of other payment processors.

The answer (to the PayPal question) is "yes" for 2Checkout: customers can pay them by PayPal without the merchant needing to use PayPal (also true of Fastspring, I think).

I believe it's "no" for BlueSnap (formerly Plimus) which does take PayPal payments but not so much "on your behalf" in that you have to have PayPal yourself to collect the funds of customers who pay by PayPal at BlueSnap.

It's true that ClickBank fees are high, but I wouldn't let their refund policy put me off, myself. It's possible to use that as a big advantage in the sales process without actually incurring many refunds at all.

        This is true.

Sorry Greedy, I skipped the part where you asked about accepting Paypal on "your behalf". For some reason I just read the "Accept Paypal" part.

There are a few others. If you are doing some volume.............do your own merchant account

  • I can't really give you any personal experiences with 2CO or Plimus as a merchant, other than I've purchased products and paid via their systems. I recall you being interested in processing fees etc, so depending on your average retail price of your products you should compare them because they do differ dramatically at times.

As for the features you were asking about, Paygear has allot of surprises built in.
Member system, 2 tier affiliates, etc. and the best fees too.

Look into WHMCS as its a checkout that takes paypal (and other payment gateways).
You can get it for free from some hosting providers.
WHMCS is also a ticket support system, so you have billing and support in one application.

Hmmm... Correct me if I'm wrong, but what I'm reading between the lines here is that:

You can't get a PP account... or
Your PP account is banned... or
Your product is dodgy enough that you don't want to RISK a ban.

    amirite?

I have a Pay Pal account.

My customers use Pay Pal 80% of the time, if offered to them.

I do a lot of recurring payments.

I don't want to load all these recurring billing payments into Pay Pal, when they can kill it all with a flip a switch.

If it was just regular payments, sure, I just remove my money at the end of the day no worries.

It's true that ClickBank fees are high, but I wouldn't let their refund policy put me off, myself. It's possible to use that as a big advantage in the sales process without actually incurring many refunds at all.
Yeah, I have very very small refund rate, so I am not worried.

And their affiliate system is good, from a merchant perspective.

    May try them.

Yes, DAP can accept Paypal on your behalf.
Do I need to be using DAP membership software?

Any input on 2Checkout affiliate system? In terms of tracking, multi-tiered sales?

    Greedy,

    >>Do I need to be using DAP membership software?<<
If you're asking whether you can use DAP just to process one-time payments and give access to content, then yes. You don't have to necessarily use DAP for a "membership" where you have recurring subscriptions. You can use it for one-off payments as well.
