For Things To Change, You've Got To Change...

That's a quote from Jim Rohn, my first "mentor" many years ago.

If you're not making money, if you're not happy where you are in life, if you've been struggling to make "ends meet" for a long time... well... the answer isn't another method, course or IM training.

The answer probably lies within yourself. The first thing to do is to step back and take a serious look at yourself. Is there a pattern of failures, not just in IM, but in other areas of your life ? Ask yourself, how would the people who know me best, describe me... describe my personal characteristics ?

If we don't like the answers we're giving ourselves, then those are the things we must work on first. You have to work at least as hard on "yourself", as you do on your business (to paraphrase Jim).

I've found that talking about "personal development" is something that "unsuccessful" people scoff at, but "successful" people embrace. I believe its like that for a reason.

So, if you've been struggling in IM for a while now, the answer MAY NOT be simply that you haven't figured out the "secret code", as so many are fond of saying and thinking... the reason MIGHT be, you need to adjust some habits, thinking, and routines in your life that continue to sabotage your future.

Once you BEGIN (its never over) to tackle those issues, you may just find yourself making a lot of money in the process !

Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.
Jim Rohn

Good post! And I agree, persistence is the key. Far too many get started, don't see any immediate results, and then promptly quit. Took me 6 months before I even earned a penny.

Exactly. It took me 2 years to get my first penny and now I make my full time living from IM.

Persistence is definitely the key. Plus, I'm stubborn as a mule.

Persistence is important because you have to expect that you are going to go through tough times first before you see good results for all the effort you have given. However, how long should you keep trying before you can realize or accept the fact that maybe you are in the wrong field of work? I guess it depends on the person on how long he wants to keep going.

  • Magic Mike has to right idea. I really like those Jim Rhon quotations. Strong and clear reminders for sure.

Of course it is very difficult for the average "trying hard but failing" type of person to actually do the psychological self inventory so desperately needed. It's almost like an illness that has to run its course before the failing marketer takes a brutal look at what's actually happening to his business.

Thanks for the post, Magic Mike.
