Hi

I have a .com site for a specific physical product i am selling to USA market, if I am looking to target the UK (prices in £ etc) do you think it's better to have a separate .co.uk domain or shall I just go for a sub domain off the same site eg uk.xxx.com?

thanks for your help.

It doesn't matter what is your Domain Extension. If You Have any .com Domain You Can easily target any country with their Currencies. Like if you want to target UK Customers Then Just add Pound or Euro Currency option in your Site, Thats it.

I would have a .com for the US market and a .co.uk for the UK market. I've read by someone who lives in the UK, that having a UK host for the UK market also improves position in serps for that market.

    I would.

I think it isn't quite as important as it used to be, because most UK people are so familiar with ".com's" and don't still get put off by the lack of a ".co.uk". But I still would.

If you're dependent on or interested in rankings on Google searches made from inside the UK (i.e. searches made on google.co.uk rather than on google.com) then you'd surely want both a .uk domain-name for that purpose, and to have that site physically hosted inside the UK.
