Newbie to this business - music infopreneur

Hi all

Just joined this forum after doing some research for my new business. The website is working, but not quite ready - there are still a few changes to be made, and the promo video still has to be added on the front page.

I have a reasonably good social network, over 1000 Facebook friends, and direct access to a WOM marketing network (BNI) which will stand me in good stead for generating customers. However, I want to drive as many people to this site as possible, and I'm wondering whether Clickbank or similar would work?

Question: If I use an affiliate scheme like Clickbank, do I pay commission on the recurring monthly payment or just on the initial conversion? I would be happy to pay a high percentage in commission on the first payment, but don't wish to do so for the recurring payments. Can you set the amounts yourself?

I would greatly value your comments and thoughts about my approach. I'm based in the UK, and we're not very receptive to the hard sell, but my main market will be the USA, and I know that you're a bit happier with being sold to... (in the UK, when a shop assistant asks "do you need any help?", it's not unusual to hear "yes, you can leave me alone to shop in peace!" )

Also wondering if this is the sort of thing on which I could then promote affiliate products - other people's products and services. This is a whole new world for me. I've been wrapped up in the music scene for years, but have always enjoyed the whole challenge of marketing.

Many thanks for reading.

Richard
