Same old phishing scam that has been going on for years. Nothing new, really. Anytime I get these, I just report them directly to PayPal and they take care of it.

it's called email spoofing - and it's done all the time- unfortunately.

Email spoofing is done with very simple scripts and it is very easy to notice that.
Usually, in "From" you will see email@domain.com VIA email@realdomain.com

        Old as the hills.

Set up your spam filters / message rules to auto bin these.

You'll know if there's ever something wrong with your PP acount when you login.

You should never be clicking through any link in any PP / pseudo PP email.

There are lots of those emails around. Usually the email isn't accurate and on the odd occasion that it appears accurate, it's still fake. Paypal would never ask you for information or tell you to click a link. They would tell you to log into your account from your browser.

I get more of them to my email addresses not affiliated with payPal than I do at my payPal email.

Always login from your browser directly. Never from an email. As soon as you hover over the links you can see they are going to different domains (but never login via email anyway. Never).

What's interesting here is that they use your name. I assume MoneySiteContent is your Paypal user name?

Normally these emails say "Dear PayPal user" or some such but real emails are always addressed to the account holder such as "Dear John Brown".

That one looks really good! I would still doubt that it is a real link and report it as spam. Thanks for the heads up though, I am sure there are a lot of people who wouldn't think twice about clicking that link.

This is exactly the reason I never click ANY links from PayPal emails I get no matter how convincing the email. If they want something from me there is typically a message waiting on my account or I call and have them verify what it is they are wanting from me.

Thanks for informing people who don't have a clue. Personally, I'vew never opened any email that says it's from paypal. It's always a scam. I've never had 1 email from PayPal in 10 years, unless it was a "received payment" or claim issue. Everything else should be obvious it's a scam.

With these email, even when you hover over the links, they often
look legit... until you look closer at the domain and see that
it's not really the standard Paypal.com, but some other domain
where they have perhaps set up a subdomain that has paypal.com
    in it.

As has already been suggested, always log into your Paypal account
by typing the url that you normally access Paypal via into your
browser. If there really IS a problem with your account, you would
then see a notification when you log in.

If you click through to one of these scams, you're likely to land
on a page set up to look just like Paypal's log-in page, and if you
fill out the form there, you've just given someone your Paypal log-in
details... and they can now take over you account.

    Be careful

If you had any doubt whatsoever, wouldn't you just open your actual paypal account using another window? (not using the email links)

I recall only one unfortunate reported incident where the person's paypal was actually limited at the time so they mistakenly fell for the email strictly due to coincidence

Otherwise this is a pretty easy scam to get around.
