Good blog/website examples

Hey everyone.

I'm just looking to see if anyone can give me some examples of well constructed blogs/websites that are making money. I'd like to get some examples so I can get a visual of what a successful site looks like. Maybe something to model my own pages after.

Thanks

The best place to visit is Technorati who rank all the top blogs in different industries: Top 100 Blogs - 1 to 25 - Technorati

Great resource for market research, checking out competition in your niche, seeing what type of content is popular and also looking for future partners / guest posts.

All the answers so far assume you are interested in building a blog website rather than a business website.

But Techcrunch will enable you to see what works and how successful blogs structure their content and monetize themselves.

Warning though - all the big blogs have multiple authors posting a few times a day. You may need to dig deeper in the rankings to find the successful personal blogs if this is more your style.

I am interested in building a blog/website that I can monetize. I' not sure what you mean by "blog website rather than a business website."

Also I am assuming that these big blogs are successful because they have multiple authors posting new content daily. Therefore, they rank higher in the search engines because they are constantly updating with new content? Is that how it works?

      Thanks for any advice!!

        Some do. Some don't.

Some have multiple authors, other highly successful blogs are fueled by a one-man shop.

The debate regarding frequency of blog posting will likely rage on for a very long time.

I contend that it's more about building/developing a brand rather than the frequency of posting.

There are some big name blogs that post 1-3 times a week.

"Generally", the recommendation is to post frequently until the blog catches steam.

You really just need to create content deserving of being shared.
