Monetize A "Free" Keyword

Hi,
I'm promoting a health product with my website and I'm getting around 1500 visitors every month to it.
The problem is I'm ranking for the wrong keyword: "product name free download"


It's due to a pdf file I'm offering for free download on my website.
I've made the pdf just to get the traffic closer to buying, but sadly it's not converting and I still don't rank for the profitable keywords.


Is there any way to monetize this traffic?

    you are targeting people looking to download a product free, that's like trying to sell music and movies on a torrent or illegal download site

    you could lock the pdf so they have to complete a cpa offer first to get the download.

    Or, longer term at least gather email addresses - make them opt-in to your list to get the free pdf then you can send newsletters with useful info as well as some related affiliate links.

    I am sure you can find people who will want to advertise on your web site and pay you money. 1500 visitors is not many. Please, try to get some more. Still, you are in a hot niche - health care. Here are some potential companies.

    • Heath insurance
    • Weight loss
    • Vitamins

    Only 40% of the traffic downloads the file.
    I fear that if I force people to subscribe this percentage drop a lot, what should I do?
