Does Facebook help you cheat in building a list?
Strange question?
Let me explain and I am very interested in your responses.
This following website is an example of what I am talking about, so please don't attack the site
Digital Cameras and Camera Accessories | Video Cameras | Teds Cameras Australia - Ted's Cameras
To be able to log in, you will need to register your details (top right) and in the screen that follows, it allows you to use your Facebook ID to speed up the process.
When you go to use Facebook as your login option, it says that the site
"will receive the following info: your public profile, friend list and email address."
If I understand this right, each user who signs up to this website as an example, will pass on ALL of their contact details - potentially a lot of email addresses from each new user.
The list building potential is enormous but the quality of the list is another issue.
I also object to my contacts (family & friends) being targeted by marketers through no fault of there own.
I've come across this several time of late with websites that I am looking to sign up/register with.
Can anyone suggest what is going on here?
Am I reading the situation right or have I got it wrong.
Thanks for your comments.
