Turning a muscle-building brand/niche into T-Shirts/Apparel?

Hey guys,

I have branded myself well with a powerful company name, slogan, and logo. I think it looks very appealing and think many people can relate to its meaning and wear it proudly.

The main front end product is a quality eBook/manual, similar to Vince Delmonte's No Nonsense Muscle Building. Similar niche - building muscle/strength, etc.

What do you guys think about creating T-Shirts/apparel/custom products?

The thing is, I ordered myself a sweatshirt and T-shirt with my logo and slogan on it. Was about $30/piece, just to test out their service. It came out awesome!

If I wanted to start selling them, how would I approach this? Do I take a risk and pitch out $2500 on bulk shirts of different sizes and just wait? Idk if I can afford this now. Or do I make them available on my site, and only order one when someone else orders one?

Also - pricing. I'd like to make some sort of profit, but if I took the second route mentioned above, I wouldn't want to sell them for $30+/shirt, that's insane!

Any thoughts?

You may have already thought of this.......

Have you considered creating a store on sites like Zazzle or Cafe Press?

Upload all of your designs, choose the apparel you want the designs on, and create a store through their site.

Create a custom tab on your site that says "Store"

Link that tab to your custom store on one of the above "Print on Demand" sites.

That way you don't have to worry about inventory.

They'll handle all of the logistics and cut you a commission.

You can also earn a commission if "Affiliates" help sale your shirts for you.

Just my 2 cents. I personally wouldn't want the headache of ordering different color shirts, different color prints, various sizes, etc.

It depends on how strong your brand is, it's actually hard and requires a large following to have that loyalty to purchase additional themed items. I love McDonalds food, would not wear their T shirt. Then again you could use this as gym wear?
