Is there a way you can change your username on wordpress?

On the "edit my profile page" on my wordpress, it says that usernames cannot be changed. Is there anyway I can go around this? If so, how? If not, do I have to pay for a new hosting site and delete my previous one? What's the best way to go at this?

Simple, just add another user and use that login

Don't know of a way to change it, but as agmccall mentioned.. you don't have to have just one..
    This may be by design.

Yes you can, but not within the Wordpress control panel.

If you don't want to add a new user as already suggested, you can do the following -

    1. Login to your cPanel and access phpMyadmin for MySQL databases.

    2. Select Database for WP installation and browse WP users.

    3. Click on "Edit" pencil and replace "admin" (Or whatever current name is) with new username.

    That's it, job done!

You can do it from the database, but a much simpler way is to add a new user, log-in with it and delete the old one.

You can do this even for admin-level users.

You can change your wordpress user name by login to your database. Then click "user" table and here your will able to change your username.

I did it. Add another user and set them with full admin rights. Then login as the new user name and delete the old username.

Install 'Adminer' and change it in the database. Or just use phpmyadmin
