OK, i have had 'some' success with affiliate marketing, made the odd sale or two via amazon but no real success.

I went off on a tangent and bought another domain but this time without any research, more just something i know i can write about.

I am a registered nurse in the UK and have bought a domain and put some content on it related to nursing. Bought it a few days ago, have made a logo (of sorts) and put 5 articles on (so far) all unique and related to nursing. My wife is in the middle of her access to nursing course and has wrote an article on her experiences to date, and will continue to blog or add content. What i am trying to say is the site will be real information from people who are actually interested in the subject. Something so far i have not really done, probably hence my lack of success in IM to date!

My question is, is this area marketable/profitable? How might i go about building towards something of value. I hear about giving value and believe that in this field I/we actually can. Real info being sought by real people.

But honestly not a clue on the basics of where to go with it. I have considered (and still want to) build a list, but cant think of what to give away. And also traffic. Started a facebook page, pinterest and twitter(been busy building but without direction really...), but lost as how to produce a decent campaign...or again if it is profitable.

Any, any guidance or thoughts would be really appreciated!

Alan.

Is nursing in the UK a huge market? Will people join your mailing list? Ask why? What do you have to offer that is different than most people.

In my opinion the way to make money is building an ebook or maybe a video training course and sell it for $7 build your list check the market, if there is one. Add me on skype @wael613 we can chat if you have any questions.

Hi and thanks for the reply!

Is nursing in the uk a big market? As i say I did not overly do my research in this area for the following reason really.. I have been trying IM for a while now with very little success, and just fancied a change really and using the skills i have picked up to make something i am actually interested in. But it did get me thinking that it could tick the boxes to building something substantial.

In response to your question about market size, without doing the research of actual numbers, nurses and student nurses in the UK are churned out in their hundreds every 6-12 months from almost every university in the UK !

      Thanks,

      Alan

    Hi Asc,

There are not many (affiliate) offers covering this area i am afraid to produce any serious income from this niche.

Indeed maybe it would be a good idea to write your own ebook that you can sell or maybe, give to people when they sign up to your list.

One thing that has come to my mind almost instantly is that medical search terms mostly do have a high payout per click from Google adsense.

Maybe this could be the way to earn something from the blog since the ads are niche related.

    Good luck!

    Hi asc,

My mother is a nurse and I am currently a healthcare assistant. I don't want to put a bomb on what you are doing but I'm going to share with you my opinion.

Nursing is a subject that only people interested in becoming a nurse, or currently are a nurse, are going to research. The articles that you could provide are not going to compete against the mass of information on NHS websites and also informative documents provided to student nurses and registered nurses by the NHS or other healthcare practitioners. From my point of view, monetizing such a website may be difficult because I'm not sure you would be receiving the right traffic. From a nurse's point of view, I'm not sure what you could sell to your readers as the majority of what they need could be readily available by their employer.

I wish you the best of luck with your website though,
    - Jack.

Hey thanks for your insight and thoughts. Yes the NHS do produce lots of valuable and free information, but just looking at my keyword research there are some longer tail keywords that could bring in 50-100 visitors per day, and are achievable in terms of ranking (i think!). So with these sorts of numbers of visitors (if I ranked well for a few words), surely something could be done with them - I just have not a clue what...yet!!

You could see if there is affiliate ads for nursing supplies. ie. shoes, clothes, stethascopes etc.
Create videos for YouTube for traffic

    Create an ebook to sell

You may make some cash but I don't think it's a real money maker.

Thanks for the replies, and I fully appreciate feedback.

I was thinking that a group of people that had the same interests, and a site getting regular visitors might be a good idea, but feelings i am getting (and taking on board!) is that it might not work.

If i managed to get x amount of visitors though, surely there is potential to make something? amazon adverts, consider a forum aspect, some sort of CPA offers? Or do people that this really is not a great niche, other than my own personal knowledge of the area and personal interests with this.

I am very open to hear any further thoughts, but before I simply write this off somewhere in my mind I think it might actually have potential...
