Marketing a game application for iOS and Android

Im in the process of creating an arcade/puzzle game (on the lines of candy crush but different) and would like to know the best ways to get more downloads and reviews....

what I have gathered so far:

- High quality screenshots, icons and description..
- Strong Keywords for istore and google play
- Social integration ( being able to share leaderboard and levels on facebook, twitter)
- advertising on admob, revmob and chartboost ( id like to avoid these)

Is there anything else you guys would suggest that you believe will work for this?

Any sort of help would be great!

Thanks

And an addictive game/app . Most people don't focus on quality . If you make a good app that is not just made to make money but also considers user experience as well and use the above tactics like social integration etc then it will get huge downloads and reviews.

    This is for you tbh.

I'd go with Facebook as people are in the mood to procrastinate.

Mark, I have 2 games in Play store...one is arcade and other is a shooting game.

The way we advertised when we were getting started was:

    1) Contacting tons of bloggers and having them review our game.
    2) Did a prelaunch of the game. We had bloggers post their reviews and did press releases, posted videos to build a hype. Building a fan page and driving all the traffic back to your fan page to get likes will help you in longer run.
    3) Once we went live, we started advertising on FB app installs. I know its expensive but you need to look at the money earned vs money spent. If you spend $0.50 per install, you need to be able to make $1.00 or more per install...

Also, the trick is to build a great, engaging and addictive game. The better your game, the more positive response it will get and more downloads.

Don't look at it as quick money, its a proper business. Do it right and in time you sell easy 5 figure daily revenue.

thanks a lot for your detailed response!

would you have a list of bloggers who are good for this? or atleast those who have the ability to rake in traffic....

how much did you make per install u gained from facebook ads?

if you dont mind, how much do you make from your apps every month?

would be glad if others could make contribution to this as well...

Use game sites to promote your game by placing your banner or link there.
Those sites have huge quantity of players that love good games.
