Ideas to make my IM career UNIQUE & DIFFERENT?

Iv been making websites for years but Iv always flipped them to resale over some time because the $$ sounded nice at the time. All I have done is create Wordpress blogs, build traffic/strong PR and made decent change from selling links and adsense. But not enough to make a living.

My favorite niches/hobbies are sports, pets and fashion (Clothing lines). I want to be one of the guys making money from home where I can raise my daughter while working by her side. Just like everyone else does. But what can I do to make my niches UNIQUE? DIFFERENT.

I run an online drop shipping store selling pet sports apparel such as professional and college sports team jerseys, collars, leashes etc. My drop shipper is located in the USA and I get the products at a fairly low price. I want to make a living working with IM but there is so much competition out there I wonder what the BEST route is to take. I have not done ANYTHING with my pet store but post pictures on Instagram and a small amounts on Pinterest/Facebook.

What ideas could I use that would make my store or blog different from the others? Besides just selling products, what can I truly blog about that draws people back.

Some ideas: * Blogging every week but in a DOG/CATS perspective. Not as a human. But not sure how it would turn out.
* Blogging about tips for taking your pet to sporting events?
* Writing about top selling jerseys? But if I'm not selling?..

And as far as blogging just about sports in general, it seems to competitive. Yeah, I could create a sports blog and talk about sports related news but I don't see making a living off of it?.

What other IM strategies could you recommend for me if I'm going down this type of path?

Also... another idea I was thinking was creating a blog based on fathers rights to their child. I know every state has different laws and what not but right now I am going through hell with my child's mother, with custody and what not and I basically have enough information to write a book about the whole experience. I came up with ideas about blogging basically everything in my everyday life that has to do with my daughter who is one. The fights and battles I go through to get the time with her, how fathers who actually care deserve better etc... But idk if this will bring attention or not.... Just a thought. Don't want to get into too much detail.

    Hey,

I agree with your concerns with competition. I think it's important that you choose something very specific.

You can go in to sports but concentrate on a smaller market. You might think going in to a smaller market is a bad thing but it can actually be really profitable if you get a close knit group of subscribers.

Blog about something you're passionate about and have personal experience in, it will be much easier and provide the most value.

    Good luck!

So for example... I run a college sports blog based on a certain conference. I don't write about EVERY college sports team, its one certain conference of teams.

Is that specific enough? I know a lot about sports but how do I see a lot of profit coming in that way??

Rather than selling sports jerseys for pets...

They say that the way to be successful in online marketing is to be unique.
Think hard about how will you stand out from the rest.
If you think that you are already making a stand on what you think is different from the others but still not working? Then, I think you are lack of resources.

I believe the idea of selling pet sports jerseys is a good idea, but if some how I can gather sources or ideas to make it POP out.

Your idea about blogging in the dog/cats perspective intrigues me.

And you're using FB and Pinterest and other social media, how about
a video from the dog/cats perspective. If you can pull it off, the dog/cat
is doing the talking in the videos.

How about creating a dog/cat character that does the blogging or videos.
You can sign it with a paw print and name.

    Anyways, just my thoughts.

You've fallen into the trap if having niches that are too broad. In fact they're not really niches in the true sense of the term.

To be more unique, and suffer from less competition, you need to narrow down to specific areas. Now 'father's rights' is definitely a niche. Do some keyword research and see whether people are searching for this. (Use a long tail keyword research tool or the Reverse Attack Marketing technique)

With your existing blogs and so on try using categories or subdomains that target specific, low competition niche keywords. That should help

Talking in their perspective is deff an option. I just have to sit and think 'how' I would go about..

As far as fathers rights, I know every state is different but wouldn't it seem like I would run out of things to talk about? Wold it get too personal if I blog and talk about everything I have been going through??

Iv noticed a couple fathers rights/parenting rights blogs out there.
