Making Money Online: Are You a Victim or a Victor?

I have been on this forum for several years and one thing I have noticed is that there are two general kinds of people in IM. On the one hand, there are people who make things happen. These are people who are constantly experimenting. These are individuals who learn from other posters here.

On the other camp are people who ask 'what happened?' In this camp, people would post questions regarding things happening to them. It seems that they are not actors in what is happening in their lives. Things just seem to happen to them. This all boils down to something outside of their control producing a bad result. Of course, the key takeaway is that it is all unfair. They ask for simple solutions and cookie cutter answers.

The problem with this dichotomy between these two camps is one of choice. I keep saying that success is a choice. It truly is. It is a mindset. You either choose to be successful, or you give yourself excuses to keep on doing what you are doing.

Unfortunately, when it comes to making money off the internet, you are either a victim or a victor. If you want to achieve more victories in your life, you need to start thinking like a victor. Here are just some of the things victors do differently than victims.

1. Victors do not blame other people.

When you blame other people or circumstances beyond your control, you place the power to change your circumstances in the hands of somebody else. Nothing will be possible for you. Why? Other people are to blame. If other people are to blame, then they have the solutions.

Do you see how this works out? The moment you blame others or situations beyond your control, you give up total control. Sure there are situations that you cannot control, but you must control your response to those situations. You have to respond in such a way that you can easily get back up, dust yourself off and keep moving forward. Otherwise, you are just going to lie there and cry that life is unfair.

Now let me ask you. Which achieves more success: Lying down on the floor and crying or getting back up there and to keep trying? I hope the answer is clear.

2. Victors accept the fact that there are no shortcuts to success

Victims are constantly looking for a handout. They are always looking for some sort of freebie. This is a problem because it prevents them from realizing that success takes hard work. It may not take a lot of work physically, but it definitely takes a lot of work mentally.

You have to change the way you think. You have to look at the world in a completely different way. This takes work. The biggest work you will ever undertake in this life is not about changing the world, but changing your character.

Unfortunately, if you are always on the hunt for the next big thing or the next big easy thing or the next shortcut, you kick the can down the road. Instead of learning the harsh reality of the hard work that you need to do to achieve success, you are simply buying time and living in the delusion that a quick fix is possible. I am sorry to break this to you, but as Zig Ziglar said, the elevator to success is broken but the stairs are always open.

You have to work for success. There is no way around it. No self-respecting guru or coach will tell you otherwise. You need to work. The hardest work you will ever have to do is work from deep within you. You need to change your mindset.

3. They don't constantly complain about what other people are doing.

Making money online is a race. Let me get that out of the way. It is a race and worst of all it is not a sprint, it is a marathon. This means that you have to be in it for the long haul.

In many cases, you will have a string of several bad days or even several bad months before you can catch a break. That is how it works. Unfortunately, many victims like to deal with this harsh reality by complaining about other people. Either they whine about other people or they envy other people. They are just constantly comparing themselves to other people.

This is a serious problem because the most efficient way to become unhappy and miserable is to compare yourself to others. Believe me, if you want to be more frustrated and you want to live under constant anxiety, always think about how other people are doing. If you want to succeed, focus on racing against yourself.

Did you sacrifice more today than yesterday? Did you achieve more today than yesterday? Did you produce more excellence today than yesterday? This should be a metric for success. Forget everybody else. Focus on the road ahead of you. You would be surprised as to how far you would go if you run a race against yourself.

4. Victors are NOT easily distracted by the next big thing.

This forum constantly mentions the concept of shiny object syndrome. I cannot agree more. This is a serious problem. However, the reason why it is a problem is because it taps into the victim mentality.

The victim mentality is all about looking for a quick fix. The victim mentality is always focused on solutions coming from outside. A victor mentality understands that a real solution and lasting change can only come from within. It is an act of personal will. It is an act of personal discipline.

Unfortunately, the shiny object syndrome is all about looking for a quick fix. If you buy this magical product, things will change. If you try this one simple technique, things will change for the better. They never do. Why? You are always looking to buy stuff instead of buying into your own inner strength.

You have to understand that just as success is a choice, success is also a product of personal will. You have to put your foot down. You have to exercise your will to achieve success. Unfortunately, you are not doing that when you are constantly just buying products. It gives you an excuse to keep away from doing any real work.

Conclusion

If you want to succeed, you need to stop thinking like a victim and start thinking like a victor. The reason why things are not working out for you is not because of other people. The reason why you have not been able to catch a break is not because of what others do, it is because of what you do.

If you pay attention to this post and you internalize its lessons, you will achieve one very important victory. You would realize the power of will. Your personal will is your key to the world. Isn’t it time you turn the key today? Isn’t it time you turned the key? The answer has always been in your hands.

People fail online before they even get started is because they use a lot of excuses. One of them that I think speaks above the rest is:

I don't have the money to invest.

This is one of the biggest excuses people use NOT to make money online.

And, when you give ideas on how to make enough money to get started, they make excuses why they can't

Some great tips here. If you're serious about becoming successful you have to live by those 4 principles. It's true....Success is a choice.

The OP is correct. I am not either though. I don't make any money online, but I am not a victim....I have no excuses other than I pretty much don't believe in myself and what I am doing will be fruitful, so I talk myself out of moving forward.

I take full responsibility for my lack of success knowing that I am the only one that can make it happen, and blame no one other than myself.

      That's right. WEALTH is EARNED.

Nobody is entitled to success just because they SHOWED UP.

      It has to be earned.

You pay your dues with every failure and every challenge.
