It's Not Important What You Do ...

All that's important is the reason why you do it ...

My favourite example is the Boy who only occasionally meets up
with his Dad for Pizza -- and enjoys great times -- and then
decides to become a Pizza Delivery Boy -- In his mind he's not just
"Delivering Pizza" ...

... He's trying to create good times.

Another example I learned in Hospital is the humble Dish Washer.
Maybe People will think of this as a "low status job" ... However
without the humble Dishwasher -- the whole restaurant would stop
working ... And then eventually the entire Hotel would stop working.

So I suppose the point is to remember that whatever you choose
to do -- It's important.

  • dude hav u watched one punch man
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • I'm going to one up socialenty.

But what if you decide to jog the mile and a half to the doughnut shop every morning .

Everything happens for a reason 90 percent of the time those reasons suck
  • Couldn't agree with you more, Jonathan!

I know people kind of snicker when I say I run my own food delivery business and find out it's "only" DoorDash and Uber Eats.

But I take pride in it and treat it as my own business . The fact is it's my baby where I call ALL the shots!! And iam solving a very important need for people who are looking to nourish their bodies.

    • And, there are thousands who DON'T snicker, who would PAY you for your expertise on how to do it, maybe just make a cell phone video of an hour or two of you doing it...WHAM, 97 DOLLAR product. Anyhow. As Kay said, when being paid, the person who is paying you doesn't hold you in low esteem.

You've got a mini gold mine if you choose to pursue it. I know, I'm a broken record, scratch, scratch, scratch.

When I learned what you 'do' - I thought it was impressive that you figured out a way to make those businesses work FOR you! You choose your territory and your hours - I would never have thought of doing that but in many areas of the US it would be a great business idea. The ability to scale by working more hours WHEN and IF you need extra income is a plus....as is the ability to take time off when you want to.

edit: Any job is important to the person who pays you to do that job. ...and any job worth doing is worth doing well (that last part is from my Grandmother way back when - but still applies).

  • I agree - and one of the best things about that potential 'gold mine' is that you can write it out - record it - document it....set it up to sell....set up your ads - and let it run.

That would be a high demand product in my opinion. It would not need to be long or too involved - just a blueprint for setting up a 'delivery business' by LEVERAGING all those businesses that spend a fortune on advertising.

  • Gordon and Kay you guys are too kind . Thanks for the indulgence

I know I need to get that product up and running ( i do have a $4 dollar Hot Sheet I created on my top 5 businesses I run/ or have run from home) but honestly Iam having too much fun doing this business. It really is a hoot. The funnest (?) I have ever had at any job or having my own business.

    Okay, Rob, focus lol

    • I was reading my Kindle, first read Claude's UNFAIR ADVANTAGE and then LOCAL ADVERTISING, which is where this idea came from.

When in a slump, or rut, or no time, JUST DO ONE PUSHUP.

Too many people set a big goal, say 100 push ups a day, Claude says, do just one today.

Do just one 10 minute thing today. It is what Claude would do, and also, if you don't have his books, great stuff in them from some guy who walked his talk.

  • There's no rush but if you spend an hour a week planning, listing items to cover, etc you'd have a rough draft before you know it. You can jot down or record ideas on a notepad or your phone as they occur to you - then sort out those ideas weekly or so. Don't make it a chore or you'll never get around to it.

If 'funnest' isn't a word - it should be.

  • Having a purpose gives you direction and incentive to achieve a particular goal .

  • I'm not going to go into great detail but in the rapidly changing world I believe instead of important. The more important feeling from what you do is valuable.

It's value far beyond just the monetary rewards of what you do.. a person who washes dishes is important but easily replaceable. What are the soft skills and the extras they you just do and don't really put in effort. That makes you something people miss when not there.
