The Truth About Success

People always ask me where I get my motivation from, and how I continue to push forward even when a project fails.

For me it's simple.

Success comes when the pain of not succeeding outweighs the pain of putting in the work.

If you want it bad enough, and you work hard, success will come.

If you want it, but not bad enough to put in the work, than you better hope you win the lottery :p

  • This is so true, I got to the point where I wasn't bored to write and work, but was angry at myself and down if I didn't get enough done - it's a different way of thinking and something which really worked for me, but I don't know if you can really force it? Maybe it just has to happen?

    • I have a similar feelings on the "bored" and "angry" part. But what helps me with my latest and biggest breakthrough is ANGER. I know some may not agree, but anger can be a very good Allies of success sometime.

      What do you guys think?
  • The ideal situation would be not to 'work' as it were...but be filled with action.
I never want to 'work' again, but I would love to spend 8 hours a day doing something I love

    • This is right. And it is what I wish work to be myself. I only see one problem with this view: it made a lot of people hesitate. Most things you do that bring money in have some aspect of routine that becomes boring. Or do involve other things on a less regular basis that need to be done but are not filling one with love and adventureas action feeling.

When it comes to trying to find a project or real purpose, there will come some pictures in your head with these aspects to. And you may think: oh .. no ... this is not the real best thing for me ...
  • Thisi is well puted by OP:
"If you want it bad enough, and you work hard, success will come."

You need to have a goal focus on it, work and don't give up.

  • Just to add some more inspiration...

I spent 2 years doing online marketing before I made a single dollar in profit.

And believe me when I say it was hard work. 20 hours a week minimum.

When I finally launched my product, I made 1 lousy sale.

My friends and family all felt sorry for me, thought I was an idiot.

I knew if I kept pressing on, I'd eventually succeed.

That very same business bought me my dream car last week.

    Never give up.

    • That's what it's all about. If you really want to be successful then you need to actually take consistent steps towards that success. That's a problem many people have. They don't see things through as far as they should.
  • "If you want it bad enough, and you work hard, success will come."

True ... however there are some missing elements to this. Desire and determination are essential ingredients, but you also have to being taking the "right" action. You need to be operating under the correct strategies. Drive and action is futile if you are not taking the right steps towards your goal. Just working hard does not guarantee success. You have to be working hard "correctly".

To quote Tony Robbins, "It doesn't matter how motivated and hungry you are, if you are going East trying to find a Sunset, you are never going to find it. I don't care how determined you are ... you're operating under the wrong strategy."

Be motivated, be driven like crazy, never never ever give up ... and learn what works!

  • I like this. I think too many people just numb though. They don't realize that happy and not miserable aren't the same thing.
  • Success comes when you are aware of your own mortality and that you are not a unique snowflake.
  • The difference between successful and not successful people is that when the un-successful person hits a wall or goes through an obstacle, they tend to quit.

I personally have hit many walls along the way and went through many setbacks but I did not quit.

    When you quit, you fail.

The secret is to keep going and expect sometimes to fail.

No one succeeds all the time. Everyone has setbacks. It is a part of the game.

  • I must agree with your statement 100% for if you do not have the desired that supersedes the pain that comes along with trying to succeed in any given venture you will never succeed.
