How often do you spend visualizing what you want in life?

Visualizing consistently about 20 minutes a day can make such an impact on your life. You can really develop a clear image of what you really want out of life and your unconscious mind will help you in so many ways to make it reality.

  • I visualize a lot. but if you stop at visualizing it doesn't do any good. visualize, Get an image of what you want. Then get excited about it. Then let it go and put in the effort to work for what you want. Getting the is most of the fun.

    • Yeah Taking action is also important. But what I wanted to make clear is that our unconscious mind is usually the block that keeps us from taking action.

Most of us are all programmed in a certain way and sometimes cant take action consciously. But if we train by meditating enough, we can start making long term change in the way we do things.

All it takes is a bit of awareness and from that point you will blossom.

  • I visualize all the time. It is one of my biggest motivators in life. Whenever I am just sitting and relaxing or trying to go to sleep, I am usually visualizing what I want in life.

    • Yeah, a lot of people have an idea of what they want in life. But, if you were to put them under a gun and ask them what they wanted right then and there, they probably wouldnt be able to tell you.
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Hello,
this is brilliant idea, i read a book on the law of attraction.is similar to what you are saying.i practice and it works.

    • Visualizing is good but also can be peoples downfall, if they visual something and then dont achieve it become stressed and depressed, but all in all i spend as much time as i can think of what i will become!!!!!!!
  • I agree with you, visualizing is really very important in that way you can have a clearer vision of your goals and aside from which, and the most important of them all is working out your visualization, you can can have tangible results.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Although I have successful experience of using visualization, I still can't make it as a habit. That's why I use different indirect ways to visualize. For example I made a collage of few things I'd like to have in my life. I also wrote down some goals which I would like to achieve in the short term perspective and hang it around my room. I can say that helps me, because some dreams have already come true.

    • Yeah, I also have a few vision boards hanging around on my walls. My dreams are big, huge even, but if your going to dream you might as well dream real big!!!
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • ...Because you claim that you 'can't make it as a habit', is the very reason it a habit.
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • I agree that visualizing is a very important step in the process. You have to know exactly what it is that you want and then imagine yourself getting it. This will then give you the motivation to make sure you are getting it done. MAKE IT HAPPEN BABY!

  • Visualization works as long as I dont pay too much attention to big ideas. It certainly is improtant to have a vision of what you want in life, but for me this method works best when I imagine smaller things.. More like steps to the main goal. These "steps" actually give me the drive in everyday life.
  • Sometimes visualization gives me a very brilliant idea...for example, when I think of the Great War I visualize Russia, Germany, France, GB, Austria, and Serbia hitting each other in a chaotic fight inside a supermarket
  • I spend a lot of time during the day visualising. I do believe it helps you focus on achieving your goals. The main thing however, is not just visualising what you want (ie: picture what you want), but actually believing that you ALREADY have it... NOW! This helps build self belief in being able to obtain the desired goal(s).
  • My prize is 1M

    Why?
Cuz it blends everything I want together. It's the way I'm going to find love and acceptance in my life....hahah...I'm soo materialistic ; ) jk guys. In order to be successful you have to be in tune and being in tune is living in harmony....harmony=love...it's law....for example: When you fall in love, your falling in love with someone that balances you out...whether it's friendship, family, or spouses. That's harmony

So I visualize about that mil because I'm taking the path of teaching...the best way to learn is to teach and the best way to teach is through business.

I visualize everyday as a part of my morning ritual. 1Mil's my target. I visualize being able to travel all around the world and at the same time helping people. I visualize the freedom to do everything and anything I want in my life while at the I visualize making a positive impact in the world.

Visualization is epic....but you have to use your emotions in order for it to work properly.

    • How do you visualize?

      I want to try this.

      What are the steps?

      Answer - practise!!

Sit down in a quiet place, close your eyes and relax.

Clear your mind and focus on the image or images of what it is that you desire.

For example if you wanted a new car you would focus on the make of that car, what the colour is,what does it feel like when you're sitting in the driver's seat? What does it smell like? How does it sound when you rev the engine?

Effectively you need to focus on the image and bring your senses into play.

Try this: Imagine a lemon, what does it feel like? What does it smell like? What does it taste like?
If you find that you're salivating, then you are effectively visualising.

      Hope that helps.

      Kind regards,

      Mark.
  • Kenny, I never thought of that for some reason...if your day dreaming why not visualize? lol

Oh! Alfanso, here are the basic steps you take:

    1. Find out what you want...it could be big like something that marks a great life for you or it could be small like a new car or a house...dunno....but the best way to go about this is to look for everything you want in life and find the parallels....just a quick example from me: freedom, traveling, being outside, snowboarding=financial freedom with a flexible schedule for me....I hate being static all the time...it causes boredom for me : p....but I include the things I love about financial freedom instead of materialistic possession. That's what floats my boat....what floats yours?

    2. Now that you have it....just visualize in your mind the situation you developed....but visualize it as if you were currently in the situation....your life dream has come true....then feel and experience the moment fully....

    3. Sounds kinda weird but here's my little trick.....let go of wanting it right after you're done with your visualization....just let go of wanting it soo badly and then get on with your day. Drop need and desire for it and you'll be rewarded through action.

    Ur done.

    4. Be aware of your situations and opportunities.

If you want to get into LOA or manifestation a bit more....just phrase your goals as if they have already been completed and pay no attention to the progress....set up your plan before hand and follow it...I DARE YOU! ; )....you usually end up with what you want but it happens much quicker and with less struggle because you're not going through a million mile markers.

That's seriously a million dollar formula. Just mess with it and develop your own style.....your welcome : p

  • Ya....I completely forgot to mention that...it just happens naturally for me....thx Mark.

It has to be played as if it were real life....all of it. All senses. That's the purpose of the visualization....we have creative minds so when we create real live situations inside of us at a consistent rate, the odds of them occurring are probable to say the least.
  • there was a very interesting study (Univ Waterloo, CA) where they found out that (warning: very high level summary of findings) people who are already on the success side of success (i.e. have a track record of success) benefit a lot from visualization.

Those on the other hand who are in the s**t and try to get out by using visualization, positive chanting etc, end up even unhappier, less fulfilled and more disappointed (than those who do nothing)

    Cheers

    • ow very interesting report !! It really does make you think......
    • And indeed, sometimes positive thinking does just the opposite of what its supposed to do.

Lets say you're stuck in everyday life and not feeling happy with what you do.

First of all, you must admit failure that puts you in present position, and need for a change.

Then, employ imagination/visualization to where you want to be.

Think through the steps you need to take in order to achieve the vision.

      Act on it.

Visualizing while living in the downside means you skip step 1. Therefore, you loose effectiveness of visualisation. At the end of the day all you get is "I wish I had a million..." but silently add in the back of the mind "but I never will...".

On the other hand, when you're doing just fine, all you need to do is to direct your already boiling energy to the direction you want without stopping the current.

      Hope that makes sense...
  • hahah...my bad Alfonso I did this on the fly this morning....

And ya, I've heard about that study but always only vaguely ...We should all def keep that in mind. It just depends on the mindset.... things for everyone is soo hard because everything happens on an individual scale.

But I'm thinking if your a goal oriented and you take action, visualization is more than likely a good idea for you.

But if your standing still....visualization can't do anything....cuz you aren't moving anywhere and in the same sense your "failing"....you're clashing against your overall mindset....this creates a war in your mind that can't be won...there just isn't anything in your mind working in the favor of visualization or positiveness.

*If your standing still....just wait, you have more important things to be working on Work on your belief systems!! That's where to start.

thx for your input VS!! That was a cool study...by any chance do you remember where you found it??

    • Personally, I visualized for YEARS!!! It wasn't until I got a clear plan and focused my attention upon it until stuff started to happen.

Reminds me of the old Simpleology approach:

      1. Choose your Target
      2. Focus on it
      3. Hit it Until You Hit It!

Sounds simple, but simple works now doesn't it? har har...

      Chris

P.S. Anything in step #2 that does not relate to #1 is fodder and should be disregarded....File it away until it becomes priority!
  • Simplicity is beautiful lol
  • Any visualization or eastern religious practices are great for staying focused, keeping your mind clear and you productive and on track. Whenever I'm really stressing out or overworked, I take 20 minutes. I'll do a headstand against a wall for a couple minutes and let all the blood rush to my head, then just sit and clear my mind through breathing and visualization techniques to clear everything up.

Then I'm back into work mode and totally zen-ed out!

    • Visualizing I do it all the time!!!

I right down things on paper and put pictures on a vision board
so when I'm working on my computer i look at the things that
I want to accomplish and what I'm working for.
Then when i get some thing i want i take it off the board
it kind of like law of attraction what your think about our become
about. The 5 magic word are Your thoughts create your life!
