Is "the secret" a gateway drug
I'll start off by saying that I am a believer in the law of attraction. I have also responded to a few of the other posts on this here.
The thing i have found studying it. That if you want real information on how to get it to work for you. You have to stay away from most of the authors in the secret. I mean I think there is only one story any of them use to show vision boards work.
The information giving in the secret dvd. IS just enough to give you a taste of the concept. The thing is it was a marketing tool to give a boost to the motivation industry. It was getting harder for them to sell their training programs to big companies.
In the audio version they basically admitted that there where about 50 authors at a meeting to figure out the future of the industry . then in came the author of the secret with the idea for the secret . Then boom they all put there marketin mustle together and we got "the Secret".
I say the secert is a gateway drug because it leave out quite a bit. Though if you use it you can get some results . Then you turn to the autors buy there books. In their book they sell you on tape programs. Or they sell you on coaching programs. Then they sell you on retreats.
Then for the Real believers who need more guidence from these guru's You can spend thousands of dollars to walk accross hot coals. Or your can get cooked in a sweat lodge. ALL to try an achieve greater things .
Honestly it is a great model. I am sure the industry helps people. I just think "the secret" was a watered down explintation of the law of attraction . That hit the mark of appealing to millions of people who would never have know there was a self help section in the book store. Then it got these people in the motivation industry pipeline.
