Being unrealistic to a certain extent is good. I think if you start to get too realistic than you start to get disappointed.

But going for the above and beyond is definitely how you will achieve super success!

Setting realistic goals that are achievable trains the mind and subconscious mind to expect success. When the subconscious has an established expectation of success it will more readily help you to achieve your goals instead of reminding you of your failures in an attempt to help you avoid pain. Big goals are fine, but smaller, achievable goals are the path to get there.

That is my "style" also. When we intend something, it usually does not exist in our present moment. After all, nothing is real or unreal until proven otherwise.

Success from taking that first bite will give you greater confidence to keep going, it reinforces the "yes I can" factor in your mind.

Yes, shoot as high as you can, but you must take steps in order to get there.

It depends on how unrealistic it is. You can set a goal to make a million dollars in a year but if you don't have a sytem to achieve that. Your doomed to fail you can wake up in the morening repeat the goal and you get push back.

then again If you are making 30k in a year in your own small buisiness. You can set a realistic goal of doubling that to 60k. Or you can set an unrealistic goal of going to 200 or 250 k.

The unrealistic goal has to be something that possible but not probable . For me i can set a goal of playing in the mlb but IT won't happen. It's not worth setting that goal.

On the other hand even though i am i am unemployed right now and i strugle with the english language i have used all my like and don't even have a passport. I can set a goal that in the next 3-6 month i will learn a decent amount of chinese and be traveling through china doing some kind of business that funds my travel and allows me to live in China for a little while.

The first goal is self defeating. The second goal though improbable. There are steps i can take to work for it. Like going to the post office to see what i need to do to get a passport . Hitting the borders and buying a chinese language primer course. Then identifying a business that will make it possible. The second goal is still unrealistic but possible. Chinese is damn hard to learn Even though 1.3 billion people speak it

If you have a money goal of say making $1,000,000 with or without a specific timescale, a way of approaching it in small steps while keeping the million in mind is to say I'll make $1000 by whenever, then I'll use that $1000 to double it to $2,000 then $4,000 etc until I reach the magic million.
In theory it's only 7 or 8 steps.
I've started on this course a couple of times in the last 20 years but lost the plot both times for reasons I don't understand!

On the subject of BIG goals, JFK said in the early 60s that there would be a man on the moon by the end of the decade - and there was!
But just think of the vast resources that had be deployed to make it possible. The lesson here is that we can all have 'unrealistic' dreams but they can be achieved provided you can mobilise the resources to make it happen.
MLK's 'dream' was also realised by mobilising the forces that could make that become real.
But they were both very powerful people!

For a lot of people though, I think "realistic" is another word for "easy" which leads to the word laziness.

If you're truly setting unrealistic goals as defined by you, your set yourself up for failure for you truly believe that they are unrealistic and you will never achieve them.

Be honest with yourself and set goals you can believe in achieving otherwise you will waste your life away trying to achieve something you know you will never achieve.

Uhhmm.....I'm really not sure what to say about this....

No matter who you are, if you shoot for the sky people are going to tell you're crazy for doing it.....and those are the same people that stay grounded till they die.

If you reach for the sky and you fall....the worst thing that happens is you end up back on the ground again...right back with everyone else...the only difference is you've learned from your flight and you can dust yourself off and go for it again if you choose to.

Having "unrealistic" dreams with realistic approaches is what seperate the best from the rest.....the extraordinary from the mediocre...in other words the best from the rest.

If people want to set realistic goals then go for it....but don't go around bashin people that are trying to do something extraordinary. If you don't want to fly....people who would like to don't have a problem with it....don't go postin on someone's thread bashing their views just because you're afraid to shoot for the starts. REALLY....Not cool....

I just want to be clear...this isn't aimed to any responses...it's more of a defense to this train of thought.....no matter what it is, when someone does out of the ordinary, there will always be people that say the extraordinary can't be done. Never let the nay sayers shake you....NEVER

You can stay in your cacoons for the rest of your life if you want....I'm going to change our education system so our children can get smarter rather than dumber....so they can be guided rather than preached to.
And I'm going to show people how to live great lives and I'm going to live an amazing life in the process....you can stay in your homes while I go travel around the world and learn about how our minds and our world works while at the same time having a great time doing it....I'm going to travel and live all over the world before I get older and decide to settle down and have a family.

I don't care what anyone says...the world WILL be a better place because I was here and I'm going to enjoy every second of the jouney....can you say the same?

No....the people that bash the "unrealistic" will never make a difference and they will never LIVE life. All great things started out "unrealistic" so I don't understand, in the slightest bit, how there's even a rebuttal to this thread...

If you're going to dream...why dream small. If you're going to work your butt off all week, then why in the world would you make small GOALS? If you're goal is to make money online....your never going to look how to make millions and you'll never even be aware of the big opportunities your handed them throughout your life.
