I would like to say i'm a winner, no more procrastination - but it's not the case...
In the same time it's my victory, because when i took the time to take conscient of the fact that i couldn't kill my procrastination - i was need to find a way to move on...

I'm procrastinate most of the time because i didn't want inside of me do the job ( maybe it's your feeling ) - too big, too long, too boring whatever it was - i didn't want to do it

But when a job or a task, or a to do list was fun, easy, and fast to do - well i was just enjoyed to do it without lost my focus....

One day i remember i read a book about how to stop to procrastinate, and one of the advice was to focus on mini goal - imagine you have a big goal - instead of take action to achieve this big goal, just cut it in 3/4 or more mini goals, easy to do and fast to be able to do your big goal without procrastinate...

It was fine, and for some people it's good way to stop this no action movement but not for me...

In fact for me, it's cool when it's fun or when i feel a pleasure to do the things - that's thae most important - but if l love to do it most of the time it's mean that it's easy or it became easy - not necessary fast...
So i could resume Fun, easy, action and sometimes fast to do ...
Then my best way to make it easy, and fun and keep doing things that i love is to delegate...things that i don't want to do - my weakness a-or things that are too boring to do...

Outsourcing is became my new weapon to fight procrastination - because when you just keep things that you love - it become really easy to do it with pleasure and more of that it make you happy...

NB: i loved to write this topic instaed if english is not my first tongue...

  • Well, I became more motivated when I outsourced a job recently. The job involved techie knowledge and experience, things that I did not and do not have. I would rather spend more time on doing what I do best than on stuff that requires a steep learning curve.

And to be honest, I still do procrastinate ------ but not as much as before.
  • I`ll share with you a real biggie for me.

    Set Timed Goals.

    Not just the date.

But the physical time on the date.

    And get her done.
  • Some nice tips.

Since I'm a professional procrastinator myself (not a skill I want to be good at), I've definitely read up on the topic of procrastination and time management.

The two books I really like are "The Now Habit" and Dan Kennedy's No B.S. Time Management For Entrepreneurs. Both are excellent, but if you've only got time for one, I'd go with The Now Habit. It works.

  • Congratulations for the job well done. Outsourcing will get you more focused on much prioritized tasks because absolutely you have one doing the repetitive tasks and are managed on autopilot.

Continue doing what you love and remember to outsource with attention. Also, I would recommend a resourceful material for you to go through your outsourcing needs, just see it here: Mass Outsource

    Cheers!
  • You have to outsource. If your writing articles and all that your not developing your biz. The "staying a float" work needs to go to someone else.
  • Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow. The procrastinators creed. I have had the same problem and still do but not as bad. I have learned that I need to have achievable goals and objectives and a time line to go with that. It provides a certain degree of self imposed pressure and I seem to work better when I am under pressure. Give it a try today. Make a goal of getting a few things done today within the next 2 hours and then add a few more tasks and put in a time when you want to get it done by and then get busy!

    • Procrastination is the number one evil force when it comes to not getting anything done. I think everyone at some point in their lives suffers from it.

The solution i found is to be disciplined EVERYDAY and stick to it. It's no good saying "today i'm going to do xyz" and then letting the first thing that comes up distract you. That is a surefire way to achieving NOTHING!

Make a daily plan of tasks to do and DO THEM in that day. If you don't get them finished, start the next day with the things you didn't get done and continue from there.
  • Yeah I think that outsourcing is a great way to avoid procrastination but I dont know how much you gotta outsource, cause only if the reward is big enough you can outsource everything, but if not then I dont think is very useful.

I saw whatever you need to do, stop thinking about ways to try to avoid it and just get it done.

    • If you've heard of tapping, or EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), you may find it works wonders for procrastination. Like they say - try it on everything - there's nothing to lose.

I recently wrote a piece about procrastination, and of all the methods I researched EFT appears to offer the most immediate results on a consistent basis. There are several excellent videos in YouTube on this - search for "EFT procrastination" and see what appeals to you.

One I can recommend is, "Tapping into Action and Motivation - Clearing Procrastination - EFT with Brad Yates."

  • One of the best tips I ever got was from Todd Smith, and it works well. Whenever I am procrastinating and don't particularly feel like doing something I say to myself, "I must do it NOW!", with conviction. It really helps get me going and doing the things I need to do ...

  • In all honesty, the moment I got to the word "outsource" I just laughed, and fell out of my chair.... literally. Its completely fine advice, and a great tactic, but I think it is not ok to rely on in such broad general terms.

Outsource what you cant do. Outsource what takes up time and provides little value. Do not outsource because you simply do not wish to. That destroys your value-added chain and overides corecompetency.
