In Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill talks about
sexual transmutation.

The chapter is a little bit hard to understand...it
also doesnt really explain how it all works.

How do you transmit sexual energy into fuel for
personal achievement?

Have you ever tried it? Does it work for you?

  • I didn't like this chapter either - one element of it is saying don't have sex, or at least not too much sex - it will waste your energy.. and I think it is true that after sex you are drained and not really that productive....

    I love think and grow rich, but I think there are soo many different themes within the book that it is best to take what works for you and discard what doesn't - this persoanlly doesn't gel with my way of life.. and I know plenty of successful people who have regular and active sex lives so I don't consider it essential personally...

    • I don't think he is trying to say don't have sex I think its more about if you're not having sex but still have the high sex drive then put that otherwise wasted energy to some good use.

      Also after sex, personally I am at an all time high, I feel more energetic after sex than any other time, more motivated and more focused.

      Ejaculating often is bad for you...regularly circulating your sexual energy through your body is incredibly healthy...I do it daily...not through masturbating but through concentrating on my energy systems and channels.

  • I finished reading this book about two weeks ago and before I finished reading it I already knew I could do this and was doing this daily.

    Basically, I am 20 years old so in my prime for sexual energy and I used to never be able to take my mind of sex or stop having sex ;P

    However with my changed view on relationships and everything else, long story short I began to realise that this energy could be fuelled in to different actions not just sex. I started to stop constantly thinking about sex and just relax and use this time and energy to analyse my past experiences, plan my future and help achieve my goals in life. But heck, that doesn't mean I have stopped having sex, I think what Napoleon was trying to say was to use the energy if not used for having sex in other ways, otherwise its wasted.

    This energy has now been transformed in to a more focused energy which helps me to achieve something daily which will in effect help me to achieve my overall goals in life.

    It is very interesting how Napoleon explains sexual transmutation and I totally believe in it, tested it and it works however I think you need to have a high sex drive and you need to have fulfilled many of your wants.

  • I was wondering about this as well, BillMarket. The Sexual Transmutation chapter is the place where I put TAGR down and decide that I've finished the book.

    I imagine Hill is saying that if you could go after goals with the same lust that you go after girls, you'd be a millionaire by next Tuesday. But quite how you achieve this is a mystery to me...
  • Think and Grow Rich teaches no real techniques
    regarding these practices. I do not think he really
    knew that much about it though he did notice that
    high-achievers seem to figure it out on their own
    as they enter middle age.

    You will discover specific methods if you study Yoga or
    ChiKung. In Yoga the practice starts with "Moola Bahnda" -
    in ChiKung and other martial arts it has different
    names, but it is all very similar.

    A Kundalini yoga teacher will be able to teach it to
    you, but the practice is not without risks the way the
    Kundalini people teach it. In my opinion the ChiKung
    methods are safer. Both, if done correctly, will take
    you to the same place.

  • Moolah Bandha is also sort of alluded to in the Master
    Key system, though though author didn't seem to know
    enough about anatomy to teach it. He places the primary
    power center (as I recall) in the solar plexus. In the
    Chinese system it's actually a little lower.

    I first learned the practice studying yoga. The above
    link refers to the BKS Iyengar book "Light on Yoga"
    which is a dry yoga text by today's full-color standards,
    but very scientific and covers hundreds of exercises.
    The author explains Moolah Bandha well too.

    If you take a yoga class teaching: flow, Iyengar, Ashtanga,
    or Vinyassa, plus many other styles - ask the teacher
    about Moola Bandha and if s/he is any kind of real
    practitioner of yoga the s/he will have some insight
    on it. If you tell the teacher right off you want to explore
    the practice he or she will probably introduce it to you
    at an earlier stage in learning, which is fine. I feel it's
    the first thing that should be taught because it's mastery
    is so fundamental to all internal alchemy.

    I studied ChiKung in the Universal Tao school of Mantak
    Chia - you can find teachers here and there. They all
    will be familiar with the practice but some may not know
    the Sanskrit term for it if they've never studied Indian
    yoga forms.
  • I read Think and Grow Rich in 2005 and the first chapter I randomly opened the book up to was The Mystery of Sex transmutation. This chapter changed my direction in life, it changed my relationship, it inspired me to create my business and write a book. I have expended Hill's one chapter of The Mystry of Sex Transmutation into a whole book: The Currency of Sexual Energy, The art of Sexual Transmutation by Y.S de Jong.

    Sex Transmutation is the most fun and exciting concepts since the invention of sex itself. I think a lot of people are put off by the term 'Transmutation'. It is not about abstinence or restraining yourself. It is about building your energy through sexual activity and then transforming sexual energy into productive energy and creativity. The transforming part is quite effortless actually.

    For me, when I am aroused I become incredibly creative and inspired. I have written most of my book in an aroused state. I have had most of my break through inspirations after orgasm. By the way I am female so I usually can not stop at one orgasm and the more I have the more energy I build and the more inspirations that flows through me. This is not limited to women. Men can use orgasmic energy in the same way. They can also experience mulit-orgasmic states.

    • If I remember correctly he says the same energy can be derived from substance use. I'm not completely sure it was the same chapter but I know he talks about drug use as a means to increase your capacity. But he also says that it is one of the primary things holding people back.

      It really is hard to understand the chapter on sex transmutation. In one place he says it's the greatest form of creative energy and then you get the above statement.
      In my experience, human beings have a hard time controlling pleasant feelings. Thus the disease of alcoholism and addiction.

      I guess finding the middle ground is what you're supposed to do. Going to be challenging for me!

  • I think he was talking about the natural process. When people gets older their sexual energy gets more evolved into creative / expressive direction.
    There is nothing you *need to do*.
    *Doing* is a western corporate buzzword. Get rid of it.

  • There are several really good books on this

    One is The Way of The Superior Man by David Deida(sp)

    Also, Mantak Chia puts out some good books on this

    The basic idea is that sexual energy is the most powerful energy on the planet and that when a fella releases...well, he releases a lot of powerful energy that can be used to other pursuits

    Frequent "releasing" also ages you according to chinese medicine...and it makes sense

    In the context of this discussion, David Deida says it best that frequent "releasing" robs us men of that cutting through energy that is required to go from mediocre to great

    And frequent releasing leads to mediocrity

    So the ancient Chinese had a system where you could preserve the sexual energy and still have mulitple male orgasms

    To them, it is a health system...and this system was required for the emperors to please their harems

    They call it Sexual Kung Fu(Kung Fu means practice, not Kung Fu Fighting lol)

    It is interesting to note that while the Ancient Chinese came up with this system, the Ancient Indians came up with their system of Tantra...and their method for preserving sexual energy while still being able to orgasm(multiple times) is extremely similiar

    Anyhow, its an interesting topic and one that most men should look into for self improvement

    Napolean Hill was correct...he just didn't give much practical advise

    • Interesting thread. Sex energy is basically what was also called in the old days, magnetism, or as some have mentioned, chi, prana, life force energy. Definitely this energy can be transmuted, it can be enhanced, with awareness of it and meditative visualization. If you relax and focus, you can imagine yourself breathing this energy in, filling yourself up with it, and circulating it through your body. This actually will charge you up with magnetism and you will notice that people will become more attracted to you in the days after doing this. Simply concentrate on it, imagine it, and it happens. You can use this energy for anything you want, so, I'd guess this is related to Napoleon Hill talking about transmutation of sexual energy... actually some people who practice magic also use sexual energy to charge their magic, as I've read. So it would be the same kind of thing to consciously use your magnetism to charge up your goals, intentions and dreams for your life, no magic necessary.

    However if you are really serious about, its possible to achieve this skill much earlier, though I still don;t know how it can be done after reading tones of material. It seems many methods might work, its just what really will work for you is the major question.

    Let's go to to the basis of the Law of Attraction first...
    You create mental images of the things you desire to come into your life. You charge these mental objects with Desire and Excitment.
    When, may I ask, are you at your most desirous and excited? Let me answer that for you. At the moment of Orgasm. That's the time to hold your mental images at the forefront of your mind. That's how to achieve Sexual Transmutation.
    Now... I challenge you. Try to do that during your next orgasm. Almost bloody impossible!
    A more relaxed way is to Use Mind Movies.
    Ryan Higgins from Australia has come up with a way to accelerate the manifestation process. Check it out. It's easier than trying to harness an orgasm and almost as much fun.

Inspired sexual transmutation is a process of re-programming the subconscious mind.       "1. The men of greatest achievement are men with highly developed sex natures; men who have learned the art of sex transmutation.
      2. The men who have accumulated great fortunes and achieved outstanding recognition in literature, art, industry, architecture, and the professions, were motivated by the influence of a woman.

      His statement points out that it is not just having a high sex drive, but knowing how to use it. Sexual desire is the most motivating emotion to man. We think we are rational beings but emotion is stronger than rational thinking. How do you persuade someone? Through emotion, by targeting someone's heart. By knowing what 'pulls their strings". Emotions stimulate powerful chemicals in our body. Biology is pretty hard to override.

      Chemicals can be mind controlling whether they are natural or synthetic. Our sexual hormones and chemicals can be as powerful as heroine and morphine. Modern scientists have compared the brain tomography of an orgasm to shooting up heroine. We have seen the affects that drugs and heroine have on our youth and society, so that comparison is a startling discovery that our own bodies can produce natural chemicals and powerful and controlling as an illicit illegal street drug responsible for ruining lives and increasing crime rates.

      Is this the origin of the saying, "behind every great man is a great woman"? A woman provides love, support, inspiration, and a sexual outlet, a hormonal balancer, an emotional balancer. Add a woman into the equation and less time and energy is wasted seeking sexual gratification but there still must be more to the equation.

      Many unsuccessful men have female partners. Marriages today do not have a great success rate. There must be more to it than having a great relationship. What affect does a female have on the male biology and hormonal system? If a man is able to 'dissipate his energy' more regularly because he is in a relationship, then you would think that he would have less drive to focus into being successful.

    Let's look at the basic ideas of manifesting one's desires using the power of concentrated thought.
    As I understand it one should create mind objects of the things one wants to manifest. These thought patterns should be charged with Desire and Energy to most effectively be brought into existence.
    Am I right here?
    When are we most consumed with Energy and Desire?
    Let me answer that for you. At the moment of orgasm.
    That's the point when you should hold in the forefront of your mind what you want to manifest.
    That's how to transmute Sexual Energy.
    Now, I offer you a challenge. Try it. Try to think of what you want to manifest when "the earth is moving for you"
    Good luck. It's virtually impossible.
    A much easier method is to utilise a new discovery by an Australian guy, Ryan Higgins. He calls it "Mind Movies".

  • The energy and power one puts into having sex with girls especially when they proved difficult should be put into business and one is soaring high. some are ready to spend their last penny on women they are advised to just re-invest their money. women are great but they should not be pursued hard.
  • I think its much simpler than that as you get older ( I am 48) the need for sex is not as important and you spend your time focusing on more important things.

    When you are younger you spend most of your time running around bars and coming up with creative ways to get laid. You put a lot of creative energy and work into this activity.

    When you get older you get wise you learn most women are crazy and sex isn't what its cracked out to be. You settle down and your priorities change. Plus when you get to a certain age all your experience starts to get organized unonsciously in such a way that you are more powerful in that you can benefit and apply that experience across the board.

    I think its really that simple.

    I think that has to be the biggest piece of crap Ive ever read. Im sure it works same way for successful women. I doubt they need to be influenced by a man.

    As for ejaculation, everything in moderation is good for you. Too much eating, drinking, sleeping or work is bad for you. Too little is bad for you. its the same with ejaculation.

    I believe the other thing that Napoleon Hill talks about in Chapter 11 - Sex Transmutation is that Sex Desire is the most powerful desire of all human desires and that when MEN are driven by this desire they develop keenness of imagination, courage, will-power, persistence, and creative ability unknown to them at other times.

    He talks about scientific research showing that men of greatest achievement are men with highly developed sex natures; men who have learned the art of sex transmutation and that the men who have accumulated great fortunes and achieved outstanding recognition in literature, art, industry, architecture, and the professions, were motivated by the influence of a woman.

    So then my question is how many of you men, agree that you were motivated by a WOMAN??? : )
