Meditation and Rapid Achievement

I must say, taking about 20 minutes everyday to recharge my neurons has helped me tremendously with all of my outcomes.

The truth is, you work better, when your brain works better. Most people go "eh.. my silly brain is doing whatever," and never try to optimize it. I believe one of the foundations for generating massive outcomes is a highly talkative brain. (an active brain)

All that chatter in your head, comes from a couple places, both of which are behind your forehead in the prefrontal areas. That part of your brain gives you the ability to regulate the rest of it, and to be aware of the processes.

Meditation literally strengthens the connection between these "executive parts," and the rest of your brain so that you both have more control, and it's easier to "access your resources." The word "communicative" literally means to be open for communication. Meditation has been not only scientifically proven, but proven in millions of people's experience to do just that.

I'm huge on rapid achievement. I engage in it daily, I've found the strategies and this is definitely part of it! Thanks for reading.

I found sitting alone, in a darken area with no sound and focusing on one topic will relax me and recharge my mind.

Well almost there is a book out there and I'm sorry I cannot remember the name but it covers a few 100 ways to meditate. Not every method works for everyone.

One that I enjoy and to get started is to sit in a quite area, eyes closed and count your breaths from 1 to 10, everytime your mind wanders start over again until you can reach 10.

Do this over and over just counting your breaths from 1 to 10 until you can do it without your mind wandering...

May sound easy, but try it... The first time I ever tried it I couldn't get past 5!

I find it extremely helpful to use guided meditation, especially isochronic tones. They really stimulate and realign my brain waves and make me feel SOOO relaxed. Here's a great site with tons of free tones (no e-mail or opt-in required, it seems to be strictly a hobby site): Iso-tones.com - Isochronic Tones Each tone has a description with a particular benefit that tone gives, and it also tells you how long each tone is. The site has tones ranging from 5 minutes to an hour, so you can always find the time. =D

I agree guided meditation is good and I have used it myself at times very successfully, but when you are in a place and have only a few minutes, relaxing and counting your breaths work best.

That's exactly it Greg. Just start! Trust me.. in my experience, it's better to just dive into it! There are plenty of guided programs out there, most of which I'm sure probably kick a ton of ass (lol a ton of ass!), but just getting into your mind is a very powerful thing and it's a great way for you to right away see the power of it.

The biggest piece of advice follows:

Give yourself about 40 minutes, for the first week to start to clear your mind. The untrained mind is like Times square in NY! YOU CAN clear all the people out, with time. It will become easy. Thanks for commenting!

I'm totally aligned with that. It totally is very very interesting.

I absolutely agree with what Ryan recommends. I've been studying meditation for the last 3 years; the research that I've read supports the fact that meditation is beneficial in many ways.

Especially if you are stressed, unfocused or otherwise have information overload - giving yourself a moment to just sit and breath can do wonders.

I wrote an article recently on several benefits of meditation - which you can find here:
    Proven benefits of meditation

You don't have to take my word for it either, I've included all the links at the bottom of the article to show my references and research.

Something that I didn't write there, but I do believe, is that meditation clears the way for other personal development. Kind of like LD and Ryan said - it opens you up to more creative thoughts. Have fun with it!

It definitely helps, quite simply. After 17 years, the benefits are too many to list really. There are many ways to get into, but what I'd personally recommend is learning from someone qualified to teach it. Learning meditation from books only gets you so far... namely after 'close your eyes' it gets a little tough to follow

LD, you just NAILED IT. Everyone read this. He said it becomes easier to control thoughts and feel good.

This is absolutely it. You literally wire the CEO of your brain to the other working parts. It helps emotion regulation, thought control, state management and more!

At this stage, (because of neuroimaging technology) we're able to finally see the profound changes that take place IN THE BRAIN from meditating. It's unheard of!

Yeah, it's something else. They do brain imaging with monks and it shows some incredible things.

Basically these guys can turn on gamma wave brain states whenever they choose to - it's powerful stuff. Imagine just deciding to be at peace with everything - long-term meditators can do this. Research shows that even a week of meditating can have a profound impact.

Don't take it for granted and assume you have to go sit in a cave for a year or two - just commit yourself to 10 minutes a day - boom! mini-vacation.

It's been a really long time since I've done mediation but you've inspired me to take it up again. I used to do a lot of guided mediation which I loved, can't remember why I stopped actually.
