What you do daily produce whatever results you are having right now .

If you wake up first thing in the morning to read other people marketing emails, you would lose focus everyday and not make as much money as you should

what activities do you every day that keeps you focused ?

  • I have removed myself from a lot of peoples marketing emails, as I don't find value in being sold product after product after product. I am still subscribed to a few peoples lists, who provide real value as well as selling stuff, and yes i still buy stuff (although not as much as I used to). I use a tool where I spend 15 minutes or so going through what i want to do today and how that will help me get towards my goals (look at them as well). Most days I stay focused and get through my list.
  • Write out your goals and post them up on the wall/bulletin board/or whatever you have in direct view of your workspace. Look at that sheet of paper every morning before you start any of your activities, and then make a list of what you need to accomplish that day to reach your goals. Make a checklist, and mark off each item as you get it done.

Maybe give yourself a reward at the end of the day for completing your checklist. It's called self-accountability, so if you try to cheat your way to your goal, you will cheat yourself in the end.

  • I use a priorities list that I refer to every day as well as a timer on the iPhone to complete tasks within a certain time frame. I also like to read motivational books. They help keep you fresh and your mind clear and focused.
  • I have a spreadsheet I created which has the tasks I'd like to get done in a given day / week / month and I have set due dates for them. Every morning, I check the spreadsheet and mentally plan my day. When things go awry, (which they usually do), I go outside and spend 5-10 minutes with my dogs, come back in, review the spreadsheet again and start again.
  • I make schdule, a check list of stuff I need to finish everyday, believe it or not, it's helpful, when you have a task, you will be focus.
  • I forgot to mention - I actually print out my spreadsheet. I know, it's so old fashioned of me. But I find that the act of physically taking a highlighter in my hand and highlighting projects (or steps of projects) once they are done, keeps me motivated and on track.

Just don't cross out / put a line through things on your "to do" list of in your covey. crossing things out is a negative action and subconsciously makes you feel like you're done something wrong (whether you realize this or not is beside the point). so crossing things out is actually UN-motivating. If you're not into highlighters, you can also just put a check mark (NOT an "x" for the same reason as crossing things out) next to the points on your list.
  • Meditation is one of the best option for getting focus. It just requires few minuted from our day schedule and you will feel the change in yourself soon.

  • I agree I have also removed myself from many email marketing lists, Im a lot more selective now. But i think it also helps to alot a segment of time for emails to delete, read whatever but be strict with yourself otherwise you'll still be doing it when you should have been doing other more productive things - dont let email rob you
  • Such great advice on keeping focus, thanks to you all.

  • Hello. My mindset is to reach the internet business. So I go every night and with smile on my face I think what will I do next day, and then I put my priorities... And when I woke up, I remember everything from night before, and I'm... lets say... ACCEPTING my goals and priorities. Also I always have an amount of money that I set my mind to reach in some period, and guess what... IT WORKS !!!
You just need to be sure in yourself, ask, and be patient to receive. Good luck to you all. Ivan
  • I have a list of tasks I want to get done everyday; with 2 or 3 priorities. The only emails I read are the ones I'm expecting, or are relating to what I'm currently working on.
  • I create a weekly to-do list on Sunday night or Monday morning, but also adjust the list daily as needed. The items that will bring income are circled/underlined with green marker and those are the items I try to concentrate on first.

Because I am easily side-tracked by reading blogs, emails, and forums (LOL), I also try not to follow very many - just those that I truly think I can learn from.

It's a daily challenge for me to remain focused on doing what I NEED to do, not what I want to do!
  • Washing face at regular interval of time can be a better option to be focussed. Secondly, resting for a short while after being concentrated for a long time can also increase our focusing skills.

  • I have separate email ID for getting marketing stuff - when need be I login to those accounts.

Not getting into WF and some of my sporting websites - will help in getting back my focus.
  • One thing I found quite reasonable and always work, is just a paper.

You write a paper about what you should do and what is your goal, every time when you look at it every morning or everytime you pass by, you will be have a kind of scarcity that you have no time for anything but focusing to build your business and website all the stuff.

I don't know why, is some sort of time urgency and you must complete it within a period of time. Haha ~ sounds complicated.
  • I create a weekly plan and know what I have to do every week i.e. how many articles I have to write and the topics, what I need to learn, what video i have to produce etc. I stick to the plan. Anything that might deviate me from my works in progress will be disregarded.

A case in point happend yesterday evening. I had planned to draft a series of videos. Friends of mine called me to go out for dinner with them. I immediately declined. I will join my friends Saturday night but last night was my night.

Self discipline is fundamental to stay focused on your objectives.
  • Having an accountability partner also helps you stay on task. When you have to phone or email someone your goals and then tell them how you progressed, it keeps you on your toes. If you didn't do what you set out to do, your partner can get real with you if you're making excuses. I'm the queen of having too many projects to focus on, so I can totally relate. My hubby and daughter are good at keeping me on track.

    • When I make a list of things to do the night before, I do get a lot of things done and when I don't make a list, I don't get the things that are most important done.

Now, I remember to make a list the night before and then I work hard to get the most important tasks done first thing in the morning.

  • That is very difficult question, everyday I have different different task and activities so depends upon my priority, what task I have to do first.
  • I removed yahoo as my home page, it became addictive and was a huge distraction to me.

  • Staying focused can be very difficult. Inside a book titled, 'As a Man Thinketh' by James Allan, the problem is front and center. The book is short and right to the point. The writer describes the process of how thoughts determine our life. We bring about our opinion about.
  • I will always start my day with a bible reading and a prayer for divine guidance, that's the best way for me to keep in focus.
  • i'm start my daily life with thinking what i can do in this day, and what i should do tomorrow...
maybe thats the thing can make me keep focus..
  • I use the Pomodoro technique to keep focus and keep track of what activities I spend my time on.
  • When the going gets tough, focusing can be difficult to maintain. So, I try to remind myself of why I started this business, and all the positive success stories out there.

    • Currently, I'm working on creating a hypnosis track for remaining focused and reducing the "noise" in your life. Once it's done, I'll put it on Youtube and give you guys the link
  • I don't have any particular tricks, but I know my mind will do anything to keep from being focused. I just have to force myself to sit down and start whatever it is I need to do and usually within 5 or 10 minutes I'm wrapped up in the task.
  • I think I would be lost without my little timer. I use it for a whole range of tasks to stay focused, especially writing, and when I am doing anything with social media, it helps me separate using social media for work and for social stuff.
  • With software:
    On Mac, download "Concentrate".
Concentrate :: Eliminate distractions to work and study more productively

    On Windows use "RescueTime".
Time Management, Productivity, & Project Tracking Software (Mac/PC) | RescueTime

    Without software: Pomodoro Technique
    1. Get a basic kitchen timer.
    2. Set it to 25 minutes and do 1 single task. Nothing else. No chat, email, Facebook. Just do that 1 thing you need to do.
    3. After the timer rings, take a 5 minute break; do a quick Facebook scan if you need to.
    4. Then put the timer back on 25 minutes and do your next task.
    The Pomodoro Technique®

    Without Software or tools:
    1. Get yourself a fountain pen and a nice paper notebook.
    2. Why a fountain pen? Because it is a joy to write with and you can use any "unplug time" you can get your hands on.
    3. Write down the date on an empty page and create your list for the day. By writing it on paper (with your nice fountain pen), it will resonate better in your head.
    4. At the end of the week, scan through your notebook (or as I like to call it, my "IM Playbook") and see if you were able to get some work done. The good part about a normal notebook is that you can read it anywhere... so use some offline time outside to analyze yourself.

THE BEST WAY TO FOCUS YOURSELF IS TO TAKE ENOUGH BREAKS FROM THE COMPUTER, DRINK ENOUGH WATER TO FEED THE BRAIN AND TO HAVE SOME BACKBONE.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • I like to plan my week out and write down things I need to get done and if something pops up I need to add to the list I do. And then the one thing I don't do till the end of the day is check my email as this is the most focus crushing thing can do is check your email.

  • I have one major goal per day, that must get done no matter what and a 2-5 secondary goals that would be nice to get done but not a much as the one major daily goal.

It works for me. probably won't work for you.
