  • Sorry, I have three things.

    1. Find out what you like doing that works, create an action plan, then stick to it!

    2. All children fall over when they are learning to walk. If they were afraid of falling over, they will never learn how to walk. You WILL fail at something. Everyone fails. Don't be afraid of it, just get up and persist, persist, persist.

    3. Those that are self employed work for themselves. The more successful you become, the more hours you will need to work. Therefore, OUTSOURCE! Why do it when you can pay someone else to? (Unless you really enjoy the process and want to spend your time doing it, that is)

    • patience, research and persistence are some of the vital lessons i have learn so far.
    • Man, I agree. So many spammers in Internet Market! And actually Internet Market is not that hard, I think the most important people don't believe and afraid making money online. It's because so many spammer create the bull **** information! My experience is you need to find a coach, let him teach you right things!
  • Success comes to those who persist, but probably not as quickly as we think.

    • The most important lesson I learned was to focus on one method at a time and take a lot of action with that one method until you make enough money to expand from there.

Every single method takes a lot of time to learn and to implement so jumping from one method to another just makes you start from scratch all over again and again. Stay focused on one method until you find success with it before moving on to something else that may make you more money.

  • depends on what level you're. if you're a beginner 'focus' on one niche is essential until it starts getting you the income
  • You should be making money instead if you have time to read about making money
  • Free advice gets dismissed easily... even this one.

    • I agree with that. My first course on IM was for free. I did nothing. Then I bought scam and did every step and even more. And you know - I get my first 75$ back and I get on first Google page for my keyword after 2 months.

That's the biggest lesson for me - you should pay money for education.

And I should take money from my customers for my advises - this is only way how they could succeed.

    • Big thumbs up. The best advice I've found has been many times free. I didn't always realize it until much later.
  • Learn to think for yourself, instead of always following someone's program, blueprint, ebook, etc. Look at the mechanics behind those mechanisms and exercise your own brain power to flesh out your own style of income stream.
  • i haven't learned anything...
  • I learned recently to work on one thing at a time and not to multi task that I accomplish nothing in the end
  • I am now well aware that Internet Marketing is like a pond with lots of fish for everyone to share.

  • There is no one answer to your problem when it comes to making money online. Its gonna take time to acquire the skills that well-rounded IMers possess. You cant learn it all in a $1997.

Though you may not be able to learn it ALL in one course or guide you should be on the lookout for the one thing you can take that will make you all the more knowledgable when it comes to IM. But keep in mind its not enough to know, if you don't have the sense enough to use what ya know...TAKE ACTION.

  • I learned that I work better in the early morning vs. late evening.
  • Set hourly goals. This will prevent you from wasting time. For example: I will study a strategy for 1 hour max then take a short break. When I come back I set 1 hour goal to implement and take ACTION on what I learned. It works. Try it. You can vary the time to 30 minute time frames.

    • Stick to niches that you know alot about and know your prospect well.
  • Do something your interested in. Don't do it for the money.

Pay attention to how much time you spend online compared with how much time you spend doing work.

Don't look for shortcuts, you'll only waste money and effort.

Find someone to look up to and model their success.

Understand that the internet revolves around perception, not so much what is factual. In other words, every bit of value online is perceived. You are in essence only selling a bunch of bits (00101101) that make up "information".

Do your best to organize your knowledge, provide relevancy, and make the value perceived to be high - you'll do well.

As for personal development regarding internet marketing (just life in general really) you need to be inspired for success, committed to that inspiration, and motivated until you've created positive habits.

Motivation will start you on your path and habits will carry you the rest of the way.

    • I couldn't have said it better myself. Really great post.

As others have mentioned, focus is really, really important as well.

Don't bite off more than you can chew - choose a method or niche and stick to it until you've made it profitable.

      After that, replicate and outsource.

Only then should you move on and try to master something else.

  • The most important lesson I have learned?

Get in and do it! Learn as you go for better results. The more you read, the less you are doing. The possible loss isn't really that high for most basic newbie plans.

Also, if you can offer services, it is a great way to make money NOW but don't depend on it forever! Find a way to use your service to make passive income!

    • One of the most important lessons i learned is that: take a step once at a time and focus your mind to what you're doing. For excellence is achieved in a gradual, sure way not in a rush.
    • Never Give up, no matter what, never give up!!
    • FOCUS = Follow. One. Course. Until. Successful
    • One thing I have learned is that you should always have a back up plan don't rely too much on what you see right now.
    • The most important lesson I learned is that asking or answering a simple question can control your success or failure. I recently wrote a blog, "Have You Ignored Your Million Dollar Question," at incredibleleverage.com to demonstrate this with several examples.
  • Information overload is a choice. Choose to do 50% learning and 50% doing what you learned.
    • [1] reply
    • One big thing I've learnt is that you have to enjoy the process. If you are doing internet marketing just to make lots of money, you will quit before you get there. Many of us I'm sure have go through the initial stage where you're trying all these things but you don't get any noticeable results.

The key is to just enjoy the journey, enjoy the steps it takes to reach a goal. It's like when you go to a football match. You don't go there to find out the score at the end, you go there to enjoy the process.

  • The most important thing that I have learned in internet marketing is not to try to tackle every strategy at once. Pick at the most (2) strategies and become an expert at those before tackling anymore.

When people try to tackle too much they become good at a lot of strategies but never become experts at any. It takes the expert to make it happen like it needs to!

    Good Topic!

  • The best lesson I learned is that the best lesson I'll learn will come from myself. People can tell you whatever they want. They can tell you anything. But learning something hands-on would be the most effective way to learn it. This is not to say that you shouldn't listen to the advice of other online marketers out there. I'm saying that if you want to try something for your business, don't afraid to try it. You'll experience trial and error but that's how things are. Of course, you'll need to consider the experiences of others as well. But don't rely on that alone. These are just part of the big picture. So experience -- don't hoard!

  • For me what it's so important :

You naturally have the ability in natural way that will lead to you succeed.

All you need to do is : find the ability (it's something you're good at and you can teach/ tell people confidently, don't you have to go to school to do it...), find the way to make money with that ability.

We need to identify the things that are not getting us closer to our goals. Once we know the habits and even people that are helping us to reach our goals, we then need to make a conscious decision to create new uplifting habits and find new uplifting people in our lives. It is a matter of choice.

  • Freedom in all forms takes courage, faith, determination and accountability. If you want to be financially free, or free from an office job, you are going to have to have the courage to do things you've never done before, you're going to have to have the faith that you will achieve it, you must have the determination to make it when your faith wavers, and you must have the self accountability to make sure the right thing gets done.

Look at people who are slaves to their jobs but unhappy, now look at this list and see if they have these traits. Most fail at the very first one. Courage. 9-5s are safe. Just do as the master tells you and you will be rewarded. That's no way to live forever.

  • Take it one step at a time. Step by Step.
  • 1st one: To get successful with you sales, you have to offer VALUE.

2nd: If you aren't building a list, you're simply leaving A LOT of money on the table.

These two came quickly in my mind. Maybe there is any other lesson as important as these two, but for no I don't remember.

BTW, I know you said only one to mention, but I could separate these two.

    Thanks for the interesting thread!

We were all intrigued and asked what is the GOYA secret?

He said .... the GOYA secret is to... Get Off Your A$$ and do something! =D

#1: Believe in yourself and believe in this business. It's a REAL BUSINESS not a casino table!

#2: Things are really simple, don't complicate them!

#3: Plan out your working week as detail as possible.

Most important goal...and that everything, other things I desire may stream towards me, naturally, if I ensure that it's pure. • I have several.

I learned that although as a beginner having the smarts and the prerequisite skills give you an edge, they are not enough. The learning curve for IM can be tough at the start and the discourses by self-appointed experts on IM can be overwhelming and/or misleading. I also learned that a lot of people who claim to be experts on IM have not really marketed/sold any real products themselves but are instead making a business of duping people into paying them for their "expert advice".

I also learned that consistent quality hard work does pay although it can test your patience. Lastly, I also learned that next to quality content adaptability to change and a penchant for learning are your constant allies.

  • 1) Success doesn't happen quickly.

    - Anyone that tries to will make money in the short term but will likely collapse due to not building a strong foundation.

    - Small baby steps to your goals is the order of the day.

    2) Embarking on a venture without passion is a waste of time

    - If you don't have any interest in the topic beyond the potential to make money. Then you're destined for failure, and resort to spammy methods in order to get it over and done with and making a profit.

    - It's passion that makes you write great content, to engage with the community, to write awesome copy and to build a strong asset.

    3) There's always room in a saturated market

    - Don't listen to what the GURUS say about a market being over saturated. It's only saturated because of the amount of sites imitating each other and writing about the same topics.

    - Stand out from the crowd by speaking your own unique and true voice, which should come natural to you anyway. If you spread your message across loud and far enough, people will start to take notice.

  • The most important lesson I learned in Internet marketing is that you have to stop trying to buy success in the form of glistening IM products and actually focus on one proven business model.

It is very hard to become successful if you constantly doubt yourself and always need the reassurance of a shiny new thing to give you an emotional boost. After that boost wears off though, you are right back where you started and begin looking for another fix.

Instead of carrying on like this, to actual research into Internet business models and choose the one you think is right for you. The best one in my opinion is affiliate marketing through email marketing.

You only need a one page website to start building your email mailing list - it's a great way for beginners to start making money online in a relatively short amount of time.

  • I feel like the other Warriors have had SUCH good advice. I will give a few things that have helped me:

#1. Make a list of things you want to accomplish, and TRY to do them (each day).
#2. Don't worry if you don't get everything done you wanted to do that day. Just add those things to your list for the next day.
#3. You can only do so much. Don't beat yourself up if you don't get everything done you wanted to do in a day or in a week.
#4. Spread out your mission - - try several ways of making money. That way, if one does not do as well, you are still OK.
#5. Get advice from others you trust. Not everyone selling ebooks or advice is on the level. Anyone can "photoshop" a bank sheet or "daily balance" to fool others.
#6. Remember there is a learning curve.

And thanks for the encouragement I have found here!
  • 1. To trust that I know more than enough now to do a good job for people.
