Acting big is only part of it. Many people can act, including con artists. It has to come from within with all the attributes; determination, persistence, believing in yourself, dedication and commitment.

Act big as in be ambitious in your niches without spreading yourself too thin. That is, go narrow and deep at first to be the big fish in the little pond before attacking other ponds. Of course, the ponds must be worthwhile.

Businessman and Politician have used to make themselves Big. Small Countries use this to project their place as more awesome as normally is as so to attract tourist. Con artist and dubious person use this to make money.
But succesful Internet Marketers use this strategy to make themselves Gurus. They didn't become Big overnight, it took years. They accumulated a lot of knowledge that help them grow, nurtured those years, and became the so called authority as we know them today. So we should emulate these succesful IMs. Don't just Act Big because people will see trough you.
Work at it a little, learn everyday and someday you don't need to act Big, because you already are.

By "act big" do you mean expanding your base of operations, or do you mean acting like an obnoxious millionaire wannabe by buying and smoking cigars with your entire paycheck from IM and wearing suits everyday only because they're the only apparel you have?

Not that I have anything against millionaires - I want to be one, too=)
