    • Yeah, I love these books too, especially the one listed in # 9
  • No books, this video summarizes it all. Watch the whole thing:

Tony Robbins, Frank Kern and John Reese on the Most Important Skill of Achievers. - YouTube
  • You should put "The Secret" by Rhonda Byrne in your list ...

I think that book influenced me a lot ...
  • Thanks for the great list, ive only ever looked into Tony Robbins, maybe its time i explored a bit
  • i just want to add(its audio books/programms):

The Compound Effect - Darren Hardy
Personal Power II - Tony Robbins

    + all Jim Rohn
  • I love Jack Canfields 25 success principles have read it time and time again and get someting different every time I read it
  • think and grow rich is still the most memorable one I have read
  • Law of Success by Napoleon Hill is tops for me with Think and Grow Rich a close second.

Also VERY highly recommended by me:

"My Life and Work" by Henry Ford

    • 3 that are always in my mind:

      Think and grow rich
How to win friends and influence people
      Who moved my cheese
  • I only read the first 3 habits from "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" and the book easily qualified as the best book I've ever read. It just set the foundation.

Then I read "The Power of Now!" and it just totally blew my mind. Literally. I can't even describe how I feel about that book and what it has done to me..

Then finally, I read "The Greatest Salesman in The World." This book is my everything. You can deprive me of all literature and education, as long as you leave me with those scrolls. I've read the book so much, I know the words off by heart (true story).

If you want to live a happy, value-based, principles-driven and conscious life while getting a constant dose of motivation everyday, read those 3 books and put the knowledge to work!! .. and then come back to me and say thanks :-)
  • I just have read "The Personal MBA" which is supposed to be a condensed version of the best business knowledge and personal development stuff out there. The author, Josh Kaufman, also has posted a Recommended Reading List of the 99 Best Business Books on personalmba dot com.
Additionally there is another list with great books by Derek Sivers (sivers dot org/book). As I don't have enough posts to insert links, you'll have to type it manually or google it.
  • Thanks for sharing the different books for development

I'll be taking notes on them and check later.

  • My favorite book is "Kiss that frog" by Brian Tracy

Thanks for the list....I will put them on my reading list.
  • Thank you for this great list of books and for helping me find this forum. I found the forum while searching for a book that was listed here.

There are many wonderful books listed.

I'm a huge fan of Abraham-Hicks but Ask and It Is Given was already listed. I would recommend the YouTube video's after that book before recommending any of their other books although I have read all of them. New Beginnings II (Abraham-Hicks) also provided great insights from a slightly different perspective than Ask and It Is Given which deepened my understanding. If you liked The Secret, which really does not reveal the secret, Abraham answers it all.

Napoleon Hill's new release Outwitting The Devil is great.

Already mentioned, also, was The Magic of Thinking Big, which is given to every graduate in my life.

The Genius In All of Us (David Shenk) is another one I highly recommend. More science based than most of the others I think it helps individuals (especially those with a fixed mindset) understand it is not about proving how smart we are (which is how schools tend to be structured) and more about growing and we all have the ability to expand and become more. Mindset by Carol Dweck is another one, again, science based, but addresses the fixed mindset that holds so much of humanity back.

There were many people on this thread I wanted to thank for their contributions but could not figure out how to do it. Perhaps I have to be here a while to thank? If someone feels so inclined and could drop me a PM to tell me how to thank (or if I have to wait) I would appreciate it.

Thanks again & glad to be here.

    Joy

    • As a former sale rep for over 20 years I went to a lot of self help rallies and have read and listened to countless books on personal development. All of those listed here are great.

Recently I saw in a thread on this forum about this book...

      http://www.winnersworld.com/motivati..._H_Jarrett.pdf

It is pretty simple, but might just be what some of us need to get focused. At 12 pages it is worth a look.
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • I wanted to add 1 that has yet to be listed. Powerful read that has helped me travel the world for 33 months....and still going.

"The Power of Your Subconscious Mind" by Dr. Joseph Murphy.

I saw a few free copies floating around the internet a few years back; not as many now.

But a classic and well worth the few bucks. Really digs deep into how to do affirmations correctly.

    Enjoy your day everybody!
  • Think and Grow Rich

Every other book since is based from these books.
