Hey WF'ers

I am just about to finish my 4th year as a full time business owner after a lifetime of "job" mentality and working in the corporate world. I have had some huge failures and a number of pretty sweet successes along the way... and of course TONS of goals that I am still building towards.

The one aspect that has kept me going is my commitment to personal growth and staying motivated. 3-4 days a week I get up around 5am to study personal development ideas and this is really my source of energy and enthusiasm for my business.

Here is a technique that has been working wonders for my motivation:

  • I was never big into this kind of stuff. I also have difficulty 'visualising' but I'll be checking out the book you mentioned.

Hope they have it on Kindle
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • You are very good speaker, too bad I can't speak like this..

    Good tips in movie. Thanks!
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Lol, yeah. I have such a hard time sometimes keeping myself focused. I can stay motivated but my natural tendency is to get distracted easily if I’m not careful. I agree with you that mindset & visualizing goals makes a big deal.

Other things that keep me motivated are reading posts where other like-minded people put themselves out there as a way to be accountable, such as online journals. I love reading about other peoples little successes. I also find that when I share my successes with friends/family it also keeps me motivated as well as making me feel more accountable, like I’ve got to continue & meet even more milestones.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Thank you for motivating me too. Am rather falling behind my schedule but i hope to catch up after a couple of weeks
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Great Video! Thank you for sharing! You have pointed out so many useful tips. People get motivated by different stimulus. Some are visual, some are mental warriors, and others do it by sense of feel. It's wonderful that you found a method that works for you.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • @Newview - You are right. So many different styles of learning. My goal when I became an entrepreneur was to help motivate and inspire people through personal development and my work in IM has allowed me to cross combine the 2. So I am glad to hear you enjoyed this
  • Once I started focusing more on the personal development aspect of setting and achieving goals I found success started coming much easier.
  • Pretty good thread, thanks for the share!
  • OH,so many warriors said that it is a good one,but I cant see this, for I am in china ,youtube is no available here,PITY!

    • Thanks JustinP

O.K. I will get the book you recommend because I keep hearing about it from so many different sources. Must be fate. I will do the writing down of goals you suggest, and that will be like when ever I get out of bed. 5a.m. is like for going fishing or coming back home from a killer night out.

  • Thanks
    Great tips.
  • Great stuff, Justin. Really inspiring. For me, the greatest energy booster and, basically, work goer is to remind myself every time before I start working on something why I'm in IM in the first place, and a I have a few very GOOD reasons as to why I've been doing this for a few year now and why I feel I'll be doing this for a very long time from now on too. Just a quick mental memo of all these things gives me a tremendous energy boost every time and helps me get the job done in the end.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Awesome! The whole "job" mentality is forced upon us at an early age as soon as we go to school we face 8 hours of mind numbing isolated boredom every day. Gets us in shape 15 years later for the social timetable - go to work, collapse on the sofa, go to work...

The world and all time belongs to the person who dares to ask "Why should this be?" and acts upon their own initiative to move mountains and create a new inner reality for themselves.

    • I did the same thing. I heard so many other books talking about Psycho Cybernetics.. but then never actually bothered to read it.

Once I finally did it was game changing. Hope you get a chance to take a look.

To everyone else... thanks for the feedback. I'm really glad you enjoyed the video

  • This is a very nice post. Very inspiring and informative. A technique that is good to apply.
  • great tips!!!from video post
  • I first read Psycho Cybernetics in the early 1980's; and, now that I'm reminded of how good it is, I'll have to dig it out and re-read it. It's definitely a personal growth classic!

BTW... Here's a bit of an 'old fashioned' idea, but I would think that any well-stocked public library carries the book!
