If you come out the gate running, and think you're going to make the next facebook overnight, while ambitious, I personally think that's also self destructive. Facebook isn't original, it's not unique, and it didn't explode over night. The little turd who made it just used an existing model that worked, made it more nichey(college kids only) initially, and it grew over time. Then added an API which makes sense. It also was perfect timing as lot of people had issues with myspace, it became too kiddy with all the glittery slow loading pages, businesses and older folk were essentially left out, big no no. I still love myspace btw, just saying I understand why it failed, also letting it's iconic Tom speak in the media was a HORRIBLE move. His PR skills were not there and it removed the mystique behind his picture. Anyway Instead of trying to make ends meet off 1 site, here's what i'm focused on, some may argue this isn't the right approach, but whatever.
Why it can be done

10 sites is the magic number, why? because you don't have to do anything amazing to make some decent income. At even an average of $3 a day per site you're pulling in $900 a month...
