I have 0 affirmations , i think affirmations are stupid and not helping at all... the only thing it doesn't is making you look dumb in the mirror

No i just take action... and when i succeed in something my belief in myself grows, even if it are small things that i accomplish... like when i started to run and i did a extra mile, or i did 20 more push ups and stuff like that...

Even the small accomplishments creates a bigger belief, just pushing the border a tiny bit further every day is a better method for me than just telling myself in the mirror that i am worthy and one day i will be loaded with money and houses and chicks

I have several affirmations (maybe 5?), and they work if you know how to use them.

Affirmations that you don't believe in will generally not work. If you say, "I am smart" and you feel uncomfortable about that statement, you're shooting yourself in the foot. It actually causes you to focus on your negative resistance to the statement, which just makes the problem worse.

Afformations (yes I spelled that right) have helped me. Basically, you state it as a why question: "Why am I smart?" This gets around the resistance since it presupposes you are smart.

Here's another way to get around resistance:

"I am willing to be smarter"
"I choose to be smarter"
"I am prepared to be smarter"

These statements open you up to being smarter, not just smart. They are also much more believable, and the suggestion (i.e. being smarter) goes right in.

I also state affirmations as intentions, as if I'm a king decreeing something to now be law, like a sort of declaration:

"I have a permanent financial income now!"

As I use affirmations, I also avoid making them too specific since it typically causes resistance. I use affirmations to support my goals (which are specific).

I have good experiences with writing them many times a day and saying them aloud.

However, whenever you use any of these, it's important that you're not forcing yourself to do it. It must be enjoyable to at least some degree. Any stress will just get in the way. Fortunately, affirmations can be used to remove the stress as that's what it did for me yesterday

BTW, I sometimes repeat the affirmations over and over or rotate them from time to time. Depends on how I feel.

Affirmations, mantras and the like really help me. They were a major part in me overcoming anxiety.

When a particular quote or thought inspires me, I write it down. Then whenever I need it, I read the words slowly and think about their full meaning. When you are first trying to create a belief, it won't work immediately. But be persistent. Eventually, after saying the inspiring affirmation to myself a number of times, my subconscious grabs hold of it and it becomes effortless. It becomes a real belief.

When this worked for me with very severe anxiety, I started using it to change my motivation, procrastination and have a more positive outlook on life. It has completely changed me and made me happier and more productive than I've ever been.

Originally I wrote the affirmations and thoughts down on sticky notes and stuck them above my computer. But there ended up being so many that they got lost or became hard to read. Recently I typed them all out, printed them and put them in a plastic pocket binder. I write more in when they come to me. I also have my goals and desires in the folder and pictures. Every morning I read it, and when I begin to slow down I read it again. Has been very helpful!

EDIT: As for how many I have, maybe a few pages worth. I find it good to add new ones or reword because sometimes I become desensitized to reading the same one over and over. After a while I go back to it with fresh eyes and it has its full impact again.

I use affirmation with a lot of emotion as one of many tools to help me.

In my opinion, affirmations have to resonate with the person using them and have to be backed by emotions. Just saying words over and over again without any feeling doesn't really change anything.

It is the emotions that change things because it changes the vibrational energy and everything is energy.

I don't wanna sound bitter or skeptic, but what's with all the affirmations BS? C'mon. I really don't believe in this type of mindset. Why need affirmations anyway? If you want it, then MOVE. That's it.

I probably have 25-40 at any point in time.

I have had huge successes without affirmations, but that is usually because I was in a "do or die" situation (at least in my mind.)

But I can definitely attest that affirmations played a large role in my personality and lifestyle today! I wouldn't be the same without them. (I grew up in a single wide trailer and had a mullet, no joke.. lol. We didn't even have a furnace, just a steel barrel with burning wood, Yes I mean inside the trailer!)

I have them typed and printed. I record them into an MP3 and put them on my Droid. And I also saved about 50 pictures from Google Images into a specific folder on my computer. Then I set my screen saver after 5 minutes start randomly scrolling through that folder. I love seeing them on the screen, even when I'm doing other things around the house.

Affirmations aren't the secret key.. But there is a place for them in everyone's lives that are striving for more!

Affirmations work for me...whether a placebo effect or not, it just puts me in the right frame of mind.
I use this one religiously and it works for me

"I am so happy and grateful now that money comes to me in increasing quantities through multiple sources on a continuous basis".
