    • I am glad you like it. It helped me stay focused and I shared it hoping it might help another.
    • One possible way is very long. You need to build your own credibility, then throw it in their face and gloat, "I was right, you were WRONG, now you're miserable and that's GOOD."

  • That's true. Everyone thought it was impossible for people fly until the wright brothers came along.

    • Ha! That made my head spin when I first read it. I had to go through it again to catch it all.

That's an interesting way to look at a limiting word. "Impossible" really is bandied about WAY too much nowadays, and seems to have lost its meaning.

Someone says, "It's impossible to have this report done in a week." or "It's impossible for me to get out of this rut I'm in." and what they really mean is "I'm scared of the effort that will require and choose to make excuses instead."

I love it when someone says something is "impossible," because usually it is something so dumb. I reply with, "No. We've made it possible for humans to breathe in outer space, and I can make a brick fly with the right contraption. Compared to that, your situation is nothing. Think harder." :p

So I like this new way of seeing this word. While it may not be something you could say out loud (since those around you would be completely confused) I think it could be a great little motivator. Just one more thing to set you apart and above the nay-sayers.

      Good post, Michael.

    • One major key in not giving up. Often that is the only factor in ones failure.

"you will reap in due season if you faint not"

  • It made me confused too! But, I am thankful I reread it a few times and I know I'm possible.... anything is possible if I believe it. I always feel so good after leaving this website. There is so much great information here and I feel so thankful for it!
  • A question that has always puzzled me is, "How does someone decide when to give up and try another course of action/strategy?" Or, is it always a case of sticking with something until it works? Even when the evidence tells you to do otherwise.

    • Michael has a good point about the difference between trying something and dedicating yourself to something, but I would like to add something to that.

There does come a point when you need to step back and ask "why isn't this working?" Once in my business, and once in the business of a family member (about a year separated these,) we were struggling and struggling, and NOTHING was coming of all our hard work. We were barely making forward progress, and all we were doing was getting frustrated and further behind on the bills.

People around us were telling us to give up, and we knew that wasn't the answer. But we did step back and look at the big picture as much as we could, and asked for guidance. For me and my family member, that was praying - asking for a pointer of some kind to show us what we were missing.

I also got some Anthony Robbins books and started methodically going through my life and business, seeing if I could find anything that wasn't "jiving."

Long story short (or as short as I can make this ) I found a new path for my business that just seemed to "fall into place" for me. I've been skipping merrily down it ever since. The SAME THING happened for my family member.

So if things just seem to be stuck and they won't budge no matter what you do, see if you can redirect yourself a little. Maybe everything seems like an uphill struggle because that isn't the way you're meant to go. I moved from freelance writing to product development and everything changed. It doesn't seem like a big shift, but it made all the difference in the world.

So, be dedicated to your dreams - but don't be afraid to see if your plans need changing occasionally. After all, "no battle plan survives contact with the enemy."

There is just a very fine line between changing your plans to make things work smoother, and skipping from plan to plan, never actually sticking with something long enough to determine whether it is working or not. Watch that line carefully.

  • Wow! Cool things here. Like it! Thanks for sharing
  • the truth is,

as long as we are living, there's always a chance to rebound from any adversity, as well as making the impossible possible. And most importantly, with God, all things are possible, even when the world slams every door in your face, and those who were closest to you start walking away. Faith paves the way to operate at full strength :-)

  • Thanks for this great post. Napoleon Hill was one of the people who inspired me. A great man with a great legacy.
  • Everything that is possible or impossible lies in your mind . When i first started i was asking if it was possible to make money money online . i have made money and i am still making and i am challenging the impossible everyday and then i saw with my very own eyes $164k being made in one day . I know it is possible in one day .

You got to keep challenging . Anything is possible . anything !!!! with right action and the execution , ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE .What your mind expects , you can achieve

    Much love

    • I agree, you have to see it before you see it. What you want you must be able to see in your mind before you can see it in your hand
  • I like the "impossible" becoming "Im possible". Good insight that I had never considered.

Here's another...the word "can't" is NOT in the dictionary!

Re the post about when to give up...consider, if ANYONE is able to do what you are trying to do, then you know there is a way! Look at what they are doing and figure out how to replicate it.

If you haven't found it yet, just keep trying new things until you find the path.

Modeling successful people is a tried and true route to success.

    • I like it dan. The one thing I have to say about giving up comes from a old bryan duncan song. "Im givin up givin up". I always have liked that line.
    • Thomas Edison Said " I have not failed I have just found 10,000 ways it wont work."
    • This is true, my current success is a mix of my previous mentors over the years. Now I get paid well over the average person for a days work.

  • Words are powerful. It's fascinating how you became so focused on that one word and transformed it in your mind. I imagine you are a person who has learned to never give up and that your brain was in a unique position at that moment to look at the word "impossible" and, in essence, reject it.

That's a great place for your mind to be! Thank you for sharing this. I am not going to be able to look at "impossible" ever again without thinking that I'm possible, and that's a great gift to have given everyone!

  • well my friend that I'm possible thing has been discovered by me as well one day, but there's more insight to it.

"I'm Possible" implies that I am the only one who can excute this, whether I have great friends, connections, or families, it's me who has to make the final decision,s which makes it great
  • In my book "Impossible" is just an abbreviation for "Immensely Possible"

  • Exactly, impossible is whatever you define it as. In other words, your limits are your own.
  • Because my skills were formerly locked up in my brain and unable to announce themselves, I thought 2K a week was UTTERLY IMPOSSIBLE for me. I tried other things and wasted valuable time as my skills didn't surface in my mind to be allowed to be used.

One day a few days back, the memories of the skills resurfaced in detail. I went to oDesk and by today MAY have 1745 dollars in money by the end of the week! Kicker is, THIS IS SANDWICH WEEK, the SLOW week between TWO major holidays, where everyone is usually on break!

    • That is great my fellow warrior. This is what great warriors are made of, right when in life something seems impossible the I'm possible or the I am possible comes to surface. Well done well done.

  • Great thinking! I really appreciate your view.In this world almost nothing is impossible as impossible= I'm possible.
  • You are welcome fellow warrior. Truth is more important than what is true. Things may be true but truth is a higher power and has more resolve than something that may be true.

It may be true that something in life may have never had a break through or been resloved therefore the conclusion has been that it is impossible. That may be true, but the truth is nothing or no thing is impossible.

Truth trumps what is true everytime.

    • I know what you mean my friend. Its not often one comes accross insite but when one does it is our duty to share.
    • Thank you fellow warrior. I had to stop and think and analyze myself as a matter of fact the last part came two days later.
  • As far as I know, we have no real proof that anything is truly impossible.

  • I have a quote extracted from a blog I had once upon a time, it fits this thread as well. Once you understand that "I'm Possible" you must also be able to say believe the following.

"The question is, are you ways of value enough to sustain the alone without regret.."
  • ah great thread man. Yeah Henry Ford was the man for sure. He also created Kingsford charcoal as a side business from elements left over from his production line.

  • Impossible? I don't think so! If there is someone who has done it, i'm possible! What makes me unable to achieve something that someone else has been able to achieve? We all came into this world with nothing and these people were just able to use what they had to succeed... and so will i. 'Imposible is nothing'

I was reading a Napoleon Hill Book not long ago (Think and Grow Rich pg 50) and the word impossible was in parentheses as “impossible” My eyes focused in on that one word and I stopped reading. Suddenly the following words came to rushing into my head from within. I hope this helps someone.
