Become Successful By Expecting Success

When you plan and prepare carefully, you can legitimately expect to have success in your efforts. When you recognize and develop the winning qualities that you were born with, the winner you were born to be emerges.

Although not all your expectations are going to come to pass, you give yourself an infinitely better chance of succeeding by taking the proper steps. Regardless of your goal - losing weight, making more money, etc. - you can expect to achieve your goal if you plan and prepare for it.

You also need to understand that the path from where you are to where you want to be is not always smooth and straight. The reason for the twists and bumps is simple, and it has nothing to do with you.

It has more to do with the fact that not everyone is as interested in your success as you are. Some people may accidentally hinder your efforts; others who are in competition with you and have little or no integrity may try to sabotage your efforts.

Keep in mind, though, that when you hit those roadblocks or even reversals, your character, commitment, and attitude are the determining factors in your success. You need to carefully review your plan of action, seek wise counsel, and be particularly careful to feed your mind good information.

An optimistic, positive mind is far more likely to come up with creative solutions than a mind that dwells on setbacks and difficulties.

Success to you...

    • And it's been scientifically proven by now that expectations change reality.

If you expect to succeed there is a higher chance you will.

On the other hand if you expect to fail.. oh well...

Roadblocks are not there to prevent you from succeeding... They are there so that you can prove you are worth it.

    • I love this post! Expecting success and maintaining a positive outlook is an absolute MUST to achieve whatever it is you wish to achieve.

I realized through a mentor of mine, that excuses and most negative things (thoughts) come from the words "I can't".

So, I took my two kids and we literally buried the words "I can't" in our back yard. We made a tombstone and the works.

You would be amazed at the kind of effect this has on your mentallity after you do this. Because, when you go to say "I can't", you will stop and think "those words are dead and gone" and you will then proceed to find a solution to fit your needs.

  • I used to think statements like these were about "thinking happy thoughts" and avoiding negative thoughts, which never seemed to work for me. Now I think of negative thoughts more like walking down a muddy road: if I can't avoid the mud, at least I don't have to stop and stand in it!

Thanks for the timely and refreshing post!

  • Thanks for the sharing, it is a great article indeed.
You can believe anything you want. And since you are going to believe in
something anyway, why don't you choose to believe in something that
    empowers you?

The first step to success, is to believe it.

    • Great post!

There is nothing better than visualizing yourself being successful. For me, that's the very first step to success.

If we don't have a vision, no way we'll be successful. Without a vision, there is no plan and with no plan, there's no action and so on.

  • One of the big things that stuck in my mind from studying NLP is that you get what you focus on. Focus on success and that's what you get. If you focus on the obstacles, well you will find plenty!

  • expecting and wanting is different, you can want many things but not expecting them to happen. to make something possible you'll have to move the thing you want from your "want zone" to "expect zone" by making adjustment to your attitude and your behaviour.
  • What a fantastic post topic! Thank you so much for putting it up.

If there's one thing my mental fitness trainess and clients have told me repeatedly, it is how grateful they are to have learned how to see their goals so vividly clear in their mind that it literally begins to feel REAL and INEVITABLE for the, giving them an unstoppable sense of momentum and a burning FAITH that makes everything about it seem to come together naturally and easily.

Expectation and Anticipation are greatly improved by the development of a singular Mental Focus.

  • Wonderful message! It is so true. We get what we expect to receive. Keeping our minds open and allowing ourselves to live our dreams, what a gift we can manifest!
  • It's important to expect success but it's also important to plan for failure ie. have a contingency plan. This is what all successful military strategist throughout history have really been good at.

  • It all boils down to our thoughts doesn't it?? Now if it were only easier to control those buggers....

Napolean Hill in chapter 7 of Think and Grow Rich talks about the importance of "Organized planning". Without a plan we're like the ship who just floats around at sea....

    Thanks for your post!
  • Thanks for this post Dennis,

It's nice to be reminded that hard work will eventually result in the success we're all striving for.

  • Great post, especially around the new year! Although this idea is as old as history, still people just don't get it.
  • Yes that is so true. Keeping a positive outlook helps out greatly. Even if you have a couple of days where you go downhill, the more you expect good things to happen, they do. I've been learning in Access Energy Transformation to say "what else is possible" when a negative situation appears that seems to stick around. And it does help. I will start to think about an alternative that I hadn't thought of before.

Expect success or it can elude you.

  • When things are going well, it's easier to feel optimistic and your energy is very upbeat. It's when things get challenging for a period of time that planning and outlining what are your steps to take to maintain that positive expectation despite your environment in that moment in time will help you. Just retreat and refer to your step by step list and do it over and over again until your state changes. So long as you know you are in integrity you will make it up to another level of success.

    Thanks for the post!
  • but it can also be bad.. if you expect success and dont get it you will be worse off then you were before. But it is better that you gave yourself the best possible chance. Expect success, but also expect no success..
  • Definitely the Law of Attraction. I hope everyone has read "the secret"...when I'm feeling down, I just play one of its trailers from youtube...kinda boosts me up!!!

  • I read an article today that said "...Heart-based
emotion changes the DNA within our bodies...so
when we change the way we feel about ourselves
and our world, we're literally creating patterns of
magnetic and electrical energy that conform to those
    patterns."

Just kind of puts it all in perspective.

We actually change our DNA with every thought!

  • Success and failure have equal value in being successfull. The results may vary of course but as my grandmother said eat everything on your plate and you will grow.

    • To dream anything you want to dream, that is the beauty of the human mind. To do anything that you want to do, that is the strength of the human will. To trust yourself to test your limits, that's the courage to succeed.
  • I agree...I always plan ahead and it's given me great self confidence.
  • Another tip is to always phrase affirmations in the most positive way you can. Affirm what you do want, not what you don't want. Don't say, "I no longer oversleep in the morning" but rather, "I now wake up on time and full of energy in the morning." This ensures that you are creating the most positive possible mental image.

At certain times you may find it helpful to phrase affirmations negatively, especially when you are working on clearing out specific emotional blocks or bad habits, such as, "I don't need to get tense in order to get things accomplished." If so, you should always follow this type of affirmation with a positive one, which describes that which you desire to create, such-as, "I now stay deeply relaxed and centered, and everything is accomplished easily and effortlessly."

In general, the shorter and simpler the affirmation, the more effective. An affirmation should be a clear statement that conveys a strong feeling; the more feeling it conveys, the stronger impression it makes on your mind. Affirmations that are long, wordy and theoretical lose their emotional impact and become a "head trip".
  • We all have the ability to be extremely successful -- if only we take action and make a move towards success. It's really amazing when you think about it! This is a really inspiring post. It really made me realize that I can do what I want to do. It's up to me!
  • I believe this is the secret to success. I have just written a book called Student Mind Power for teenagers and it teaches them to focus entirely on their success in school and life.

My laser focussing your subconscious mind on what you want to achieve will mean that it starts to finds ways to make it a reality for you.

There is absolutely no way that you can succeed if you are focussing on the past or your current results if you have not yet achieved your dreams.

This is crucial for teens and adults. When going into a test or exam, do noy focus on questions you cant answer, areas that you don't know or the difficulty of the task but instead imagine that the test is easily completed, you can respond to all questions and that you leave feeling so happy.

You must see your success in your mind before it will happen for you.

    Cheers,
    John

  • My last one for the night!

I remember years ago when I used to constantly fight with my emotions - don't we all! A single thought would ruin my whole day and life was not worth living! I used to wake up in the morning and give myself hope " one less day on this retched earth, another day has passed", what was wrong with me? Nothing I had a great job, a home, money, yet I was sad.

Then I went on a spiritual journey, I read everything I could get my hands on. I searched high and low to make meaning of this life. What did I discover that changed my life?

Everything is a lie - its not real. What you think and believe. What the world tells you.
Its all an illusion. Its a choice you make to feed the illusion or work with it.

This made me angry to know that society may enslave you but no one can enslave you the way that you do yourself. For example when you truly love yourself - the voices will stop, you have finally made peace with yourself - you wont need any more eckhart Tolles and any Guru but you.

The voices and the thoughts can and will stop but you need to really go inside and go to your core. When I close my eyes I listen out to see what thought is crossing my mind I actually wait for something to pop up nothing its become a quiet place now- its nice to finally have some control! What does this mean for me now - while the world is stressed and bickering and tit-tating over stupid things like who ate the last pie - im relaxing with no worries or cares.

Hopefully one day I should have them all in reign the last few ones hanging around!

My mantra - meditate-meditate and meditate at least once a day for 10minutes!
  • Actually,It depends on our willing power. If we make a goal and do all the things required to achieve it,no one can prevent. The goal will be achieved for sure. But if we just make goals and do nothing, then we get nothing.

The universe help us according to our willing power.
  • Well your right, being able to succeed means doing that supports your goals, sometimes people do things that does not support their goals, they end up failing
  • I really like this post, and I have seen several themes and thoughts throughout this thread that are valuable and imperative in that they are interdependent sorts of concepts.

Some people make it as simple as "thoughts become things", and this can definitely be the case. Another poster pointed out how it is essential that a strong emotion be attached to affirmations. I have found this to definitely be the case. In fact, even when we are not conscious of the fact that we are attracting our reality to ourselves, we definitely are. If we are angry or frustrated, we stay that way and we attract more negativity, UNTIL WE STOP, because those are strong emotional states.

It is the same way on the positive side.. If we focus purposefully on our goals, and vocalize them, attaching the strong positive feelings, the "belief" and the sense that we can feel being at the place of our goals, then we WILL achieve them. This takes Discipline Thought and Control. DTC.. for sure..

I see evidences of this when I look back at my life, and I am living in the evidence of it considering where I was 2 years ago. I could write a book about these principles in my life, maybe I will some day..

    Thank you Dennis!
