Nothing interested can be found on twitter. Still it seems to have more perceived value than facebook for some people. I think its used by mature people. I want to use twitter but how to make it interesting for me?

  • You can use Twitter to build a relationship with others who have the same niche as you. Swap ideas or see if you can set up a JV with someone. It becomes more interesting when you interact with like-minded people.
  • Twitter is a strong social networking site that helps you build relationship with other people you know and even the strange one. It will be interesting if you already started to interact with the tweets of others.

    • Twitter is great because everything is in real time. You have to know how to target and locate your niche. Keywords is a great way to start. It's becoming much easier to use and can be vital for the success of any business, especially online businesses.

Far from true. You would be amazed at the kinds of things that people are condensing into 140 characters or less.

You could say the same thing for Myspace (somehow), ESPN, or any other website on the internet really. It's all about what people get out of it.

Eh, we are on the internet. Maturity is a trait that is seen not very often.

If it doesn't interest you, forcing yourself to use it isn't going to do much for you. You either like it or you don't. Plain and simple.
  • I personally used twitter for branding, its the easiest way to provide exposure for your business. Make sure to follow people with the same niche as yours, you will be able to learn from them by sharing some ideas.
  • Twitter on the surface is not worth your time. For many, it is Spamville. However, you can still make valuable business contacts there, and there are great meetings on Twitter.
  • you should use twitter if you're interested in giving people insight into what you like and you are interested in what others like...my sister met the owner of twitpic.com and got a job interview just because they had common interests...you never know.
  • Twitter had helped my sales tremendously

  • That's true, especially news that's relevant and useful to you and your business. So it's useful for keeping your finger on the pulse of your niche (and interests!) IMO.

If you have the dukes to build up a responsive following, it drives traffic like crazy. It's a pretty powerful thing to be able to send 50 people to landing page ASAP + to have your message RT'd, although it seems a tad more difficult to get RT's nowadays than a few years ago. No data to back that one up!

    • I am not an expert at twitter but am learning as I go. Twitter, to me, give access to people and information on a "live" basis that I would not be able to find elsewhere.
To me that has a ton of potential value is harnessed properly.
  • Twitter is a great way to connect with people quick. The problem with people on twitter is they don't always see your post. I have connected with a number of people through Twitter though. It makes it easy when it is connected to you Facebook because people like to retweet or favorite your posts.

    • One of the more popular areas is the political arena. I notice it is a practical tool for those who deal in such matters.

  • I used twitter for a long time in order to grow my business but I realized at some point that it was useless. There were only a handfull of people who retweeted my tweets, and after a couple of months I closed my account. Maybe for me it wasn't succesful but I see that for a lot of you it was. So, tweet away and develop succesful businesses. Cheers!
  • Nothing can make you get interested in anything until you resolve to be interested in it. And yes, Twitter, for me is a dull place to get connected. Everybody in there wants to sell something but they are not buying. I haven't seen any traffic in my blog driven by twitter. I got more luck with FB and LinkedIn.
  • I think Twitter is dependent on what you are using it to achieve. If I am a local plumber, there is only so much I can get from the site. I might have a handful of clients that really pay attention to my tweets, but it is really not going to be fruitful. However, if I ran a motivational blog, I could have tens of thousands of followers. This would be quite beneficial and a great way to keep in touch with like-minded people.

In either case, you really have to be active. Tweet often, retweet other people's tweets and start to try and be social. It is actually quite easy with the 140 character limit because there is only so much that you can say.
