How do I make myself efficient working from home

As most of the internet marketer works from home, it is easy to get distracted and become less efficient.

This is a simple method I do to become more efficient.

1. I will list down 5 tasks that I need to do the night before/ in the morning.
Five tasks are those that will bring real value to my business, task like replying email, reading mails are not inclusive. Do things that will create and help business, such as write article, blog posting, creating website, driving traffic, compiling email for your subscriber...)

2. Put a time that you will need to do each of this task.
Say article writing for 1 hour. Blogging for 1 hour and so on...
(Note: If you have less time in a day to do this, you will need to find ways to get things done faster, 5 tasks are pretty minimal)

3. Track your time doing each of the task.
If you plan for an hour to write article, then make sure you finish off your article in an hour. If you are not done, finish up your task and record down the exact time needed. Then only move on to next task. Record down the exact time you use to complete each of the task.

Note 1 to 3: Do this for first week. You will have a list of task and time you required for each task.

On the second week, repeat Step 1. But this time, you can plan your time wisely with the five tasks as you already know how much time you need.

For step 2: When you plan the time to complete your task, make sure you complete within the time, no more excuse to not able to complete. If you are not complete, you will need to wrap things up and move on to the next task.

Repeat these steps daily. When you are doing this more and more, you will realize you are better in estimating your own time and you will be surprise the amount of work that you an get done.

Absolutely agree. We often fail not because of lack of time but because of lack of goals and lack of productive time. So doing a thorough time auditing can only help - and that can help even if you are already successful.

You need achievable goals and desired results. Set up yourself a plan of attack and what you want to accomplish each day. If your able, choose something to reward yourself with. Personally my biggest hatred is backlinking. I outsource most of it. But what little bit I do daily, I have to do and make the most of it. That's why I reward myself. I'm a Gamer, and that system doesn't come on until I've done my backlinking for the day and feel good about what I've accomplished.

Hi. I have worked from home for 12 years and completely agree. One thing I would add is to have a child care plan. For those of you that have kids (I have 3 under age 6), there are definately times when you are going to need quite, quality time. We have a wonderful drop off daycare that I can occasionally use. It has saved me stress during many a conference call.

One item that I have missed out.... this method seems easy, 5 tasks a day.... in actual practice, it took a lot of self discipline and commitment. I have tried it and my first few times was a disaster, where I have backlogs of tasks.

So, I would say it is a simple but hard to commit plan. But once you get over for few weeks achieving some consistency there, you will be very efficient.

        Good luck all!

There are two types of task in any business. Tasks that keep the current business running and tasks that will expand and grow the business. Many business owners focus almost exclusively on keeping things going and spend zero or no time actually doing things to make the business grow.

It is so easy to get distracted when working from home. That's why it's so important to make lists that identify important tasks, prioritize your time and maintain focus without getting sidetracked.

We must have goals, both long term and short term. And we must arrange the time properly . If we do not do this, the time will slip away very fast every day, every month, every year even without being noticed.
