It's somewhat ironic, how rare it is that I find myself in this section of the forum... About 6 years ago, I first got myself into Self-Improvement, and I visited this part of the forum exclusively. Ironically, I wouldn't even really find out what Internet Marketing was until a few years later, but here we are. So, I've been studying self-improvement for about 6 years, including everything from the Law of Attraction, Quantum Physics, The Spiritual aspect, etc. etc. And finally, I feel like I've really put the pieces together, and understand now just how it works. So, I've decided to take a moment to share this info, so that others could benefit from it. So here goes:
The Law Of Attraction: How To Actually Do It

We've all heard people who tell us that LoA is just a scam to sell e-books and blah, blah. Someone will say something like: I don't think you can sit on your couch and manifest a Ferrari just by thinking about it." And true enough, but Creative Visualization is not just "thinking about it". I'll explain how it's actually done in this post, there's usually a few key areas where people mess up, so this should help people to ACTUALLY manifest what you want, and what you might want to focus on manifesting.
The First Thing: Letting Go // The Sedona Method
Full Disclosure before I begin this section, I'm not affiliated in any way shape or form with The Sedona Method, I just think it's an amazing product... I have just one issue with it... It's name. It's name makes it sound like it's some cheesey tactic/technique, and it's most certainly NOT... If I could rename this product/company I would call it: How To Let Go. If it had a name like that, I would've probably purchased it years ago, rather than waiting till Steve Pavlina did a post on it.
So, what is this method, and why is it so important? Well, in order to visualize your desires, you need to first "clear out the negative b.s" that opposes this desire. Namely wanting control, security, approval, separation, or oneness. If this sounds a bit confusing right now, don't worry about it.
Basically, The Sedona Method will get rid of a negative feelings that will "jerk you around" when you're trying to manifest your desires, and send your thoughts in amillion places... And once you experience your new desires mentally, it will teach you how to maintain this feeling, rather than getting nervous and holding onto it. I can't go too deeply into how this method works, but let's just say that it does work, and it is important for clearing out the negative BS that goes against your desires.
Another important thing that this teaches, is "letting go of wanting", for example, if you want a Ferrari, and you have the feeling of "wanting it", it would be impossible to manifest, because you can't WANT something, and HAVE it at the same time. You can only want it and appreciate it at the same time (more on that later).
So letting go of wanting is necessary to manifest your desires. Also, it will teach you acceptance, which is also mandatory, because you have to accept your current reality, or what Eckhart Tolle would call "The Now" in order to experience your new reality. The reason is because if you don't accept what is now, then you are RESISTING IT. And we've all heard the saying: "What you resist persists.". So if you're resisting your current reality, then you can't create a new reality at the same time, because the two will be in conflict with one another.
Anyways, the Sedona Method is an absolute life-saver and I highly recommend it to everyone... The course I think is $200-$300ish, and it's worth every penny (they have a payment plan to if you want). If you're really strapped for cash, then you can get The Sedona Method book, for cheap, and though that won't compare to the full audio course, it's still pretty great, and will suffice till you can get the full course.
Sorry if it feels like I'm hammering out this one product, but it's the only one I've found that actually does this. If you think there's others, you can mention them below. To sample the Sedona Method, check this out: sample: The Sedona Method - Free Audios (not an aff link), You should start feeling better right after doing this, if you're hesitant, just give it a try, trust me, it works.
The Second Key Thing: Experiencing It As Real Now
Once you've cleared out all the negative B.S surrounding your goal, your now ready to start experiencing your new reality. As I said before, you can't just think about, it has to be real NOW. As real as it possibly can be. You're not thinking about it, you're not fantasizing about it, you're experiencing it as REAL now.
Ever had a drea where there was some fact about the dream, that felt so totally real to you? For example, you may on some level absolutely KNOW that so-and-so was in a dream, however, you didn't actually SEE them there, you just knew, and it was real to you. Like being in a dream and it feels 100% real to you in every way.
Once, I drempt that my dog could talk, and I knew beyond a doubt that dogs could talk... so when I woke up, my dog was in the room and I started talking to him, as if he was going to reply back, and after he didn't for a few seconds, I was about to get mad that he was ignoring me, then I remembered: dogs can't talk. That's how real it should feel. As real as a dream you've experienced as 100% real NOW.
The Third Key Thing: Your Visualization Should Be In The Absolute, or, Independent of Your Current Physical Reality.
This concept is a little bit harder to explain... Basically, you need to experience your new reality as an ABSOLUTE, as in standing on it's own, and not IN RELATION to your current physical reality... Judge Thomas Troward called this "The Absolute".
Basically, your visualization should stand alone, independent of EVERYTHING you're experiencing in your current reality. Ideally, you should forget about your current reality in every way shape and form. Master Key System author Charles Haanel called this, "The World Within" (as opposed to The World Without").
Dr. Joe Dispenza explains this concept far better than I ever could; he explains the concept at 33 minutes and 40 seconds into this video extremely well.
Basically, when you're done Visualizing, you should have to reorient yourself to your waking reality, just like after a dream that you experienced as real, you have to take a second to REMEMBER where you are. This should happen every time after you finish visualizing.
So if you're manifesting Happiness, for example, you do it completely independent of your waking reality, to the point where your current waking reality is no longer relevant, in any way. What happens is your reality will fade out more and more and your visualization will be more "real" than your current "waking reality.
The Fourth Key: Manifesting What You REALLY Want
So, usually when people go to manifest something, they try and win the lottery, or get a new Ferrari, or a new girlfriend/boyfriend, something like that... Well, that's not really what you should be manifesting, you should be manifesting what you REALLY WANT
As in, what am I trying to achieve by getting this thing? Happiness? Peace? Confidence? You should be manifesting THE END RESULT...
So for example, if you want $1,000,000 because you think it will make you happy, INSTEAD, try manifesting HAPPINESS. Why? BECAUSE THE UNIVERSE IS SMARTER THAN YOU. It knows EXACTLY what it will take to make you happy, so if money is a PART of that, you will get money as PART of the manifestation. If you can;'t be happy and broke, and you manifest happiness, then YOU CANNOT manifest brokeness as well. People are afraid that if they manifest happiness, they'll be happy and broke, or happy and loveless, and that simply can not happen, because when you manifest happiness, then ALL the conditions necessary to your highest happiness will be manifested as well.
Check out this video on the subject by Ask Teal, she explains it VERY well: How to Discover What You Want - (Ask Teal Episode about Desire and What You Really Want) - YouTube .. Fast forward to about 13 minutes and 50 seconds.
When you do it this way, every condition to your desired End result WILL be met.
The Fifth Key: Laser Focus.
So, going back to what I said before, you can't just "think about" owning a Ferrari, it has to feel very real to you in this moment, and you have to FOCUS on it. And when I say focus, I mean FOCUS. It should be your one and only all-consuming thought, you can not focus on it for 10 seconds, think about how you have to walk the dog, then go back to focusing on it again for 20 seconds, then think about this cute girl/guy you met the other day, then go back... Each time you lose your focus and go back, you have to start ALL over again, from scratch.
Charles Haanel explains this best:
"19. Attention or concentration is probably; the most important essential in the development of mind culture. The possibilities of attention when properly directed are so startling that they would hardly appear credible to the uninitiated. The cultivation of attention is the distinguishing characteristic of every successful man or woman, and is the very highest personal accomplishment which can be acquired.
20. The power of attention can be more readily understood by comparing it with a magnifying glass in which the rays of sunlight are focused; they possess no particular strength as long as the glass is moved about and the rays directed from one place to another; but let the glass be held perfectly still and let the rays be focused on one spot for any length of time, the effect will become immediately apparent.
21. So with the power of thought; let power be dissipated by scattering the thought from one object to another, and no result is apparent; but focus this power through attention or concentration on any single purpose for any length of time and nothing becomes impossible."
This is probably the main area where people "screw it up" when trying to manifest their desires... They can't focus their attention on anything.
At first, you won't be able to focus on anything for more than a minute or 2, but don't be discouraged, you WILL get better in time, it just takes some practice.
You may feel some sort of tingling in your brain that starts in the front, and moves back, that's a good sign, it means you're doing it right, just let it be, and keep going... Though, if that doesn't happen, it's OK, that's just something that happens to me.
Also, it may feel like you're mentally "lifting weights' that's a good thing. It will require some effort... Think of it like building a muscle in your brain, it will take time and mental fortitude, just like packing on muscle at the gym. Again, don't be discouraged, the weight will get lighter and lighter in time.
So, there you have it, that's how manifesting your desires is actually done. If you have any questions, or need any help, I'll be happy to answer those questions within this thread. Good Luck. And Happy Manifesting!
I realized there's some important points missing here that I should've probably mentioned, so here's where I'll go ahead and add to this post, making it a little more complete. Don't worry if it feels overwhelming, because I'll have a "putting it all together" section soon.
The Sixth Key Point: Imagination > Will Power
"When the imagination and will power are in conflict, are antagonistic, it is always the imagination which wins, without any exception." -Emile Coue
Many people get stuck because they're trying to "force" themselves into experiencing a greater sense of abundance, power, or what have you. They're basicaly trying to "force" their creative "visualization" experience via the faculty of will-power. Will power is not where experiencing your new reality takes place, and it can not work... This is the equivalent of trying to drive with your foot firmly pressed down on the brakes... it can not work, and it only makes it worse, and harder to experience your new reality.
In order to experience your new reality, you have to IMAGINE it, not force it with will-power... You have to ALLOW it, or, rather than force it, or, give yourself permission to experience it in this moment... Give yourself permission to slowly "imagine yourself into it". If you do it this way, you'll be able to create without stopping yourself.
The Seventh Key Point: Emotion (or Love/Appreciation)
"26. Thought is a mode of motion and is carried by the law of vibration the same as light or electricity. It is given vitality by the emotions through the law of love; it takes form and expression by the law of growth; it is a product of the spiritual "I", hence its Divine, spiritual, and creative nature.
27. From this it is evident that in order to express power, abundance or any other constructive purpose, the emotions must be called upon to give feeling to the thought so that it will take form. How may this purpose be accomplished? This is the vital point; how may we develop the faith, the courage, the feeling, which will result in accomplishment?
28. The reply is, by exercise; mental strength is secured in exactly the same way that physical strength is secured, by exercise. We think something, perhaps with difficulty the first time; we think the same thing again, and it becomes easier this time; we think it again and again; it then becomes a mental habit. We continue to think the same thing; finally it becomes automatic; we can no longer help thinking this thing; we are now positive of what we think; there is no longer any doubt about it. We are sure; we know."
-Charles Haanel
When manifesting, it is extremely important to feel your experience into existence. As Charles says, the thought vibrations aren't powerful enough on their own to produce great changes. You need to feel love, and/or appreciation for the thing you want to experience, now. The reason it's love/appreciation, is because those are the two most vibrationally powerful positive emotions, and therefore will bring your experience into reality the fastest and "best" possible way.
When you feel love/appreciation NOW for the experience you want to create, you may actually be able to feel your body vibrating. A powerful positive vibration will do that. Thought without an emotion such as this is basically empty. You can use raw imagination to "mold" the experience you want, but when you've locked onto what you want and you're ready to create it, that's when you need to color your vibration with a powerful emotion such as love or appreciation. This is mandatory for creating your new experience.
The Eighth Key Point: Trust
"You must learn to trust your creative mechanism to do its work and not "jam it" by becoming too concerned or too anxious as to whether it will work or not, or by attempting to force it by too much conscious effort. You must "let it" work, rather than "make it" work. This trust is necessary because your creative mechanism operates below the level of consciousness, and you cannot "know" what is going on beneath the surface. Moreover, its nature is to operate spontaneously according to present need. Therefore, you have no guarantees in advance. It comes into operation as you act and as you place a demand upon it by your actions. You must not wait to act until you have proof--you must act as if it is there, and it will come through. "Do the thing and you will have the power," said Emerson"
-Maxwell Maltz
"We are forced into a position of trust. And only by trusting and acting do we receive signs and wonders. In short, conscious rational thought selects the goal, gathers information, concludes, evaluates, estimates and starts the wheels in motion. It is not, however, responsible for results. We must learn to do our work, act upon the best assumptions available, and leave results to take care of themselves."
-Maxwell Maltz
Just as our main man Maltz says in the quotes above, TRUST is absolutely necessary in order if you want the creative mechanism, (or subconscious mind), to work for you. If you "jam it" by constantly wondering when/where/how, etc. etc., your desire is going to manifest, you'll jam the creative mechanism, and it will not be able to function and bring you what you desire... Charles Haanel likened this to a child planting a seed, and then digging it up every 15 minutes to see whether the plant has grown or not. If you dig up the seeds, nothing will be able to grow.
Mike Dooley calls these the "cursed hows", saying that the hows (or how exactly your new desire will manifest), are the domain of the Universe, and it should be left to the Universe to take care of the how's while you do the work of the conscious mind (evaluate, estimate, get the wheels turning, and do whatever you think is the next best action). If you just do your job, (the job of the conscious mind), and the creative mechanism (subconscious mind) take care of how & when it's going to manifest, then you'll actually be able to create the things you desire.
So, this is probably the last update I'll make for this post. It's important because so far, I've really just given you a bunch of scattered pieces to the puzzle, this puts the jigsaw together...
So, I found that the process can be summed up in the acronym "LE FAE" (like Morgan Le Fae, but don't read into that, it means nothing, the acronym is just a coincidence).
First off, make sure you're manifesting something you REALLY want, before you even begin... (Key #4) Also, when visualizing your experience, make sure to just focus on what you want to experience and give no thought to the end result, or concern as to how it'll manifest, just enjoy the experience.
L - Letting Go - This is where you use The Sedona Method, or some other releasing method to let go of all the BS surrounding your goal... You'll want to let go of "wanting" your goal, and let go of resisting what is. If you feel there's more you can release, then you're not done... (Key #1)
E - Experience - This is where you begin experiencing your new reality... (Key #2 & Key # 6). Once you've let go, you're ready to "imagine" yourself as experiencing your desire as real, NOW.
F - Focus - This is where you cultivate that laser focus on what you're experiencing (Key #5). If other thoughts pop up, release on them, otherwise just keep focusing on your goal till you feel you're ready.
A - Absolute - This happens naturally as you continue to focus on your experience. Your external reality "fades out" and your mental experience becomes more real than anything. You'll know you've achieved this when you stop experiencing your new reality and have to "re-orient" yourself, like waking up from a dream. (Key #3)
E - Emotion - You're now experiencing your new reality as VERY real now, and you've basically forgotten about your "physical" reality. This is where you color your experience with Love/Appreciation. This is what gives your experience "power" and what draws it into your reality. (Key #7)
Once your done experiencing your new reality, you'll want to continue feeling that vibe throughout the day (so if you're trying to manifest abundance, you don't turn around and feel scarcity right after your experience is completed). Also you want to trust your Creative Mechanism (subconscious mind) to bring your desire into reality, and not jam it by becoming consciously concerned about how/when you're experience will manifest. (Key #8)
Update: 9/20/2012... Minfulness...
We've all heard people who tell us that LoA is just a scam to sell e-books and blah, blah. Someone will say something like: I don't think you can sit on your couch and manifest a Ferrari just by thinking about it." And true enough, but Creative Visualization is not just "thinking about it".

(Key #8)
