What's your PROBLEM?!?

Hehe just wanted to shake you up a bit...

But seriously, I want to hear from as many people as possible what they think their main attitude / mindset challenge is for their not achieving success to date.

And I don't want to hear 'I keep getting ripped off', complaining kind of answers. (You may be right, but that's not what I'm asking for here.)

Here's my example: I self-sabotage. I reach a level of success or ability in IM, then I don't know how to break through to the next level, get frustrated, and tear it all down. Why? Because if it can't be what I want it to be, I don't want it at all. Weird, huh?

Anyway, what's yours? Do you know what it is? What are you doing to change it?

  • the problem with trying to answer this would saying that where i am now is a point of failure . the failure for me is that i have been working for most of my life trying to achieve a vision of success ..that was not really mine ..but one that was fed to me if you don't do this this and this you are a failure ..

    well in the world we live in now i can live a better quality of life and get far more enjoyment out of life on 1,000-2,000 a month income if i move to where i know know where i want to be ..than many people making far more money and needing to pop a dozen pills to get out of bed in the morning .

    Right now i am only not there because I am taking care of my elderly parents .. but i am developing other skills while i am here.

  • My problem is procrastination but not really why one would tend to think. I Am a perfectionist. I have something I can launch, but 6 months later I'm still adding, tweaking, changing, or revising, because I can never get it "just right". Maddening, I tell you!

    • I hear that, dudeco! I used to be the same way with perfectionism, always going back to it, tweaking, editing... and never really being able to call it 'done' in my mind.

      Can I ask you a question? Your product, how are you going to know when it's 'just right'? How will you know when it's done?
  • Oh, and btw Nathan... I went to school at WWU in Bellingham, just about 45 minutes from you. I remember many moons ago turning 19 in college, and going to BC since the drinking age is 2 years younger, lol! Had many crazy college nights up in that area...

    • That's so cool! I've been to the WWU campus, I hade a music teacher there that I took lessons from. It's a beautiful campus and I always wanted to study there. Of course, now I'm 40 so that would look weird.
  • The biggest thing for most people is confusion and lack of direction.

    Years ago I felt that way, but then I finally found my passion (helping businesses with their internet marketing) and that sorta alleviates the challenges.

  • I feel I have, and am, achieving success online. However, I know I still have problems I need to work on. The number one problem is my work ethic. If I could improve my work ethic I would be unstoppable, unfortunately I just can't seem to smash through my laziness problems. I am getting slightly better but not progressing as much as I'd like, it's the one thing I've had to work at over the years that hasn't got easier over time the more I try to do it.

  • hi. i just read somewhere and forget where am i read it but if you don't know how to break through to the next level and get frustated, go on. because new ideas comes when you're bored. when you bored your brain will try to figure out what should you do. so, make your self bore

    • Haha I LOVE that! It's true that your brain is always trying to solve a problem, even when you're doing something else. So maybe getting bored is the answer for some of us. Thanks!
  • My problem is that I get distracted very easily. Cant concentrate on the work at first place.

    Solution I'am trying, Taking a break of about 5 minutes whenever I'am fed up of work and try to close all the attractive websites such as facebook. After the break I feel energetic and confident to work again.

      I hear that. It's too easy to open another tab on your browser ans see what's happening on FB (lol I've got a message right now... better check it out)

      I take breaks too! I work for about 45-50 minutes, then I go to FB, Twitter, email, whatever... and yes like you I get energy back and am ready to go back to work.
  • My big thing is that I need to be far further (in everything) than I am, and that frustrates me. I need to keep my head down, focus and concentrate on the tasks at hand because often I get distracted by "the shiny object" and a task that should have taken 1 hour now takes 3. I am learning meditation and that is helping a great deal because I can relax and get centered. When I am there I can see very clearly and this is a good thing.

    I am also a perfectionist. but it is apparent that imperfect action is better than no action.

    • Hey Jones, Kelowna's nice! I was there with my wife last September and I have good friends there too. We're wine nuts so it's the right place to be for that.

      You said something interesting to me, in the quote above. What does it mean, 'I need to be far further ahead (in everything) than I am'? Can you say more about that?
  • There are no bones in my body that want to break into new unfamiliar territory. (skill set wise) I just don't feel very attracted to certain aspects of IM. They are hard for me to assimilate quickly or at all sometimes.

    My antidote is to snip off a bit at a time. To move into those areas of unfamiliarity and take it SLOWLY. This way I figure I won't freak myself out and shy away altogether. So far so good. It is working for me and I am gradually covering more new ground but it is a slow slog. And, . . . I would just a soon have it that way really.

      That's AWESOME that you found a strategy to break into unfamailliar skills and territory! Congrats!

      Just to clarify: What parts of IM do you find unattractive and that you use this strategy for?

    • For sure, Gary:

      2 years ago here on WF, I had published 2 WSOs and was writing copy for people. I was doing OK, no huge money yet, but making a little bit and improving my skills. I was also in a mastermind with lots of active marketers at the time.

      Then one month things dried up. Clients weren't asking about my copy offer anymore and I had an unsuccessful WSO launch.

      Rather than try to discover what was happening and how to improve my skills and situation, I erased all my WSO threads, my copy offers, and cancelled as much of my WF profile as I could.

      Had I stuck it out, learned how to improve my copy skills more, and learned more about launching successful WSO's, I may have stuck around. But I was impatient and was unwilling to ask for help, even from people in my mastermind. The feeling of needing to destroy was more easily satisfied than my desire to achieve long-term success.

      That self-sabotage set me back 2 years. If I had stayed focused on my goals, asked for help and been more able to deal with small failures, I would be well ahead of where I am now.
